my 1990 eagle talon fwd 5spd will not start with just turning the key, I have to hook jumper cables up to it and then it will turnover, the alternator is fine cause once the car is driving it runs fine, what do you think is wrong with it?

Follow negative cable from your battery. The frame ground should be less than 12" from battery. Negative cable will go from there to a close spot on the trans housing or engine block. But if you follow the cable you will find both.
