Mazda cx-5 Head restraints front seats are very uncomfortable. They say it is for safety. But it is almost
unbearable. Any idea if I can replace them with anything else?

You can replace them with anything that will fit. Finding some that fit is going to be the hard part. You could also take them to an interior shop and have them altered - different shape or different padding.
