2001 lincoln town car: hesitation, low power, rough idle

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I try to be brief while including all pertinent information.

I get only a p0306 code. One time only, a few months ago
after putting in fuel cleaner, in the saved log there was a
fuel injector code (idk which).

The symptoms only happen after warm up, or when the ac
is on. The car runs top for about 15 min during cold start.
No trouble starting.

I've changed all sparkplugs, #6 coil (no bad signs on #6 but
others had oil on them), fuel filter (twice because of how
dirty). Checked all fuses. I can hear a vacuum leak in the
center of the engine, but using various methods including
smoke, have been unable to find. I have had a problem with
low power for ever since purchase, but now the car is
almost undrivable upon warmup. And if I run too lo ng it will
loose almost all power and run horribly.

One thing to note is if I'm on the highway it seems to
running pretty good even after warmup, but upon exiting it
promptly reminds me there's a problem.

I have listened to injector 6 with a stethoscope and it
sounds weaker than all the rest, but I hear it opening and
closing. I'm not very handy, but I'm willing to learn. Point
being that doing even small things is  a big deal with a hurt
back and it's not simple for me too play manhunt changing
parts.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Get it rescanned for codes. If it is running that poorly there should be trouble code(s). What brand of coil did you install. What brand of sparkplugs? How many miles are on it? Does it have good oil pressure? Have you measured the fuel pressure? Could it be a vacuum leak at the number 6 intake port that you are hearing? Best thing is probably have a mechanic look at it cause throwing parts at it is expensive.

Not positive about the coil, I know it was a $40 cheaper one that is not the same color as the O e m. Is this a possible culprit? And how would I know without having to replace the whole thing? I believe the spark plugs were motorcraft but I honestly am unsure as well. I will investigate tonight and double check to make sure. There is no oil pressure or fuel pressure gauge. Or RPM for that matter. There are only lights that turn on when something's wrong. The oil pressure light does come on now quite frequently as the car is warming up even with sufficient amount of fluid. It used to only do this when it was cold but now it does it often. Not sure exactly what or where the intake vacuum line is but I'll check around the area where cylinder 6 is and find out. I can't seem to find a decent diagram of the vacuum lines anywhere online. And the manual shows nothing. Should I invest in book for this car? I guess in the end you're right, I'm going to take it to a mechanic promptly. I was hoping to avoid that as there are few mechanics around here that aren't an expensive chain, but at this point... .
