I am looking on buying either a 3000 GT or a 98 Eclipse, can I have the pros and cons on both of them please? This is going to be my first car, and I'm a college student, who will use it for school.

Question type: General

I will mainly use this car on my commute to school. I'm not into racing, but I love how the
car looks and it's sporty feel. I'm set between 98 Eclipse, or a 3000 GT. If you guys
would please be able to leave me the pros /cons it would be extremely helpful. Like for
ex, problems with transimission etc... Things I should look out for when going on my
quest for my beauty.

We own a 2003 eclipse spyder gs and a 91 3000gt sl. Honestly with either you will have a love hate relationship. I prefer the 3000gt myself. Timing belt, water pump and oil pump replacement is a real big deal with these cars. (Eclipse and 3000 gt). If you can do your own work or have someone that can help teach you you will be money ahead. But if you can't do the work you will need deep pockets to keep the older ones running properly. Proper maintenance is the key. They not like the mid 80's and 90's Chevy that can be put thru the ringer time and time again without changing oil ect. These little cars need TLC almost constantly. Now please don't let me scare you about them. They are great cars and I just love owning and working on them.
