1998 Ford Ranger 4 cylinder

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Rear brake on passenger side gets so hot you can't touch it.  Had it in the shop, they replaced wheel cylinders, shoes, and drums.  Still heats up, only on that side.  Got any ideas?

Sounds like it isn't adjusting right, not absolutely sure, but I believe that model had the drum rears and self adjusters. You could try moving in reverse and hitting the brakes a few times to see if it auto adjusts. Some reason the brake is always having friction, causing the heat, which could cause problems after time.
