I have a 2015 f150

Asked by GuruVPJ66 Sep 07, 2018 at 01:38 PM about the Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My truck has 40,100. Miles I am the only driver and never let the gas tank go
below half. I was having trouble starting and keeping it running, after having it
checked out I was going to have to replace my fuel pump.$1900. Plus to
replace. I feel that ford should have a recall. The service man at ford said this
is a known problem. I have driven fords most of my life.maybe I should look at
other brands of cars and trucks

Fuel pumps are known problems with Fords but every manufacturer has known problems that there are no recalls on. But $1900 doesn't sound right. I'd get the fuel pump from a parts store (if your comfortable with Ford recommended brands, parts stores carries that) and take it to a mechanic shop instead of a dealer. For the part plus labor in a mechanic shop would be not even a third of the dealership cost of replacing it.

I just had the same problem while in a remote part of Maine. My 2015 F-150 has just over 40K miles. When It failed to start, I had to have it towed to the nearest service center ( I was in a remote area in Maine) where I could also get a rental car while the truck was being diagnosed / repaired. It turns out the fuel pump failed. The service manager suggested that routinely letting the fuel level get close to empty could lead to premature failure but stopped short of mentioning that this is a known issue. The pump cost was $180.00 and labor was $300.00...Upon getting my truck back my ABS & Stability Control warning lights are on so now it looks like I have another problem to solve....I had been traveling over dirt and gravel roads for several hundred miles a few days before so I'm hoping my speed sensors on the wheels just need to be cleaned
