2003 Ford F-150 shut off while driving down the road

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello,

I have a 2003 Ford F-150 that literally stopped running while driving it down
the road. When I try to start the truck again, I get a very short harumph like
the engine is trying to turn over but barely cranks enough to give the ruck a
slight shake. After that there's no sound at all. No quick or slow clicking from
any location either. I have cleaned the battery terminals and all my
accessories work and headlights lights too. I have tried to use jumper cables
to start the truck as well but they don't work either. Does anyone know how
to help me diagnose this issue or where to start?

Have you checked all of your belts/belt tensioners? If the drive belt snapped, or the tensioner cracked or failed, this could very well be the root of your problem. Best of luck!
