I have a 1998 Ford F 150 4 by 4 SuperCab and I change my alternator yet it still does the same thing drains the battery and shuts off what else could it be ?

I read something that some ford's alternators are regulated by the computer. Idk if a 98 was one of them.

"and shuts off" Do you mean the engine quits running? If so then the system is operating off the battery until it is expended. Check all the connections for correctness. Also have the alternator bench tested. I've gotten bad ones out of the box.
