Hi. Can anyone explain the difference between "Tow Package" and "Trailer Package" in the CarGurus options, with respect to the Ford F-150?

Question type: General

Specifically with respect to the Ford F-150? Ford offers a Trailer Tow Package and a Max Tow Package. Do these correspond to the 2 CarGurus options, or is it simply up to the dealer's interpretation? Thanks.

There is a difference. The Max Tow has the following features. 4 pin/7 pin wiring harness. Auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Class IV trailer hitch receiver and Smart Trailer Tow Connector. Trailer brake controller. Upgraded front and rear bumper.

Thanks. The VIN check is a good idea. The challenge is that it appears some listings which fall under the "Trailer Package" option don't have Ford "Max Tow" features, like the trailer brake controller. I suspect that it is dealer's discretion and the buyer just has to read carefully.
