car runs but wont hold idle.if i dont put it into nuetral and give ot gas the car will stall. could this be converter or head gasket?

Could be MAF or power loss other than a blown Head gasket ... lots of things ,,, easiest thing to do is have compression check on engine. Check coolant for oil or oil for coolant if you suspect bad head gasket
