Beginning 1972 horsepower ratings became published as net instead of gross. Net horsepower is with the engine installed in a vehicle, all accessories hooked up and running, and the reading taken at the drive wheel. Gross horsepower is with just the engine running and the reading is taken at the flywheel. HTH. -Jim
