Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car began losing power especially going
uphill..won't go over 45 - 50 mph. I had
transmission completely rebuilt $2600 & now told
if I don't repair something in the exhaust all the
work I just paid for will blow up my engine and the
rebuilt tranny. Will the catalytic converter do this
and how much will it likely cost to fix?

1 Answer

1,250

If that catalytic converter /s are broken /stopped up they can aND will cause major damage if ignored . And yes it. An get quite pricey to replace them .but a lot cheaper than an engine .good luck
