It depends entirely on the specifics and condition of the car. Is the title clean? Is the car mechanically sound -- has it ever been wrecked; has it had maintenance performed regularly? If the car has not been cared for, it will be no end of trouble to you.

You need to find a good one to two owner car that has NO obvious problems to start wilh. Then you can go to www.mycarfax.com for FREE and check the service history. Any car that has a good history, engine and transmission, and all the interior works inc. the A/C is worth $3000. If it needs an emission test and is out of date be sure you insist that it is done before you buy it. Agree to pay for it yourself before you buy the car it is worth the $40. Hope this helped
