Why does my dodge ram 1500 have a slow take off

When I jam the pedal dow in my 1996 dodge ram
1500 5.9l I only get 2400 rpms and it takes a while to
build up

What code is popping on the dash when you cycle the key 3 times. It might be your TPS throttle position sensor.
