brakes scrubbing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My front driver brakes are scraping bad. I just
replaced the wheel bearing because it went out
driving Saturday. Took the caliper off to replace the
bearing and it seemed fine. I have also checked
the brake line and no where is clamped. When I
crank it up and drive for a sec in reverse then in
drive(just to move out from carport and back in)
the brake pedal is normal when pressing them in
and letting off them. But it's still scrubbing. I'm
sure the caliper is locked because of how bad the
scrubbing noise is. How can I get them to
disengage from the rotor and back to normal?

Do you hear this noise all the time or just when you apply the brakes ? If it is all the time sounds like the backing plate was bent when installing bearing and is rubbing against the rotor. Remove tire and check between backing plate and rotor.

Thank you. It is all of the time. I can't drive it cause it's scraping the rotor so bad. But I will definitely take a look at that

Firebird338 thank you for your help. I would like to let you know what the problem was with my truck. I'm sure you're think it's a comical as I did. When my husband and his uncle replaced my wheel bearing with a new one and put everything back together, they put my back brake pads on backwards therefore making it scrub my rotor and it making the bad scraping noise. What's even funneir is I had his cousin, who is a certified mechanic with Firestone ride about 200yrds down the road with me to hear the noise and look behind my tire at my Caliper and couldn't find the problem. But when I looked at it closely with a light I immediately seen the problem. Hahaha didn'tn even have to take tire off for me to see what was wrong. Just a funny moment to rub in the guys faces for a good old laugh for this lady
