what are the chances of you distrubtor going out in a 1992 ford f150 with a 5.8 engine

I'm not sure of what you mean. I know that the Ignition Module on the side of the distributor fails frequently. Best indicator is that it dies while driving and restarts after 20 to 30 minutes. I've seen a few roll pins stripped - the roll pin that secures the distributor drive gear to the shaft. If the shaft does not rotate at all when the motor is cranked, it's likely that the Timing gear has failed or the roll pin sheared off. What's happening to your truck?
