what is a dual gas tank divertor valve and can it be bypassed without problems

no need to by pass, just don't switch tanks until you get it fixed. DON"T run out of gas on the tank you're using if you have this problem, however, because if it fails and tries to switch tanks and can't, it could leave you stranded.
