High idle

Asked by Soberman58 Dec 16, 2017 at 11:11 AM about the 1980 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently I and a buddy of mine swapped out a 300
straight 6 engine from a 1980 f150 with a different
one that does run better but at this point whenever
you go to shift it idles really high until you let off of
the clutch. What could this possibly be?

Maybe the idle speed needs to be adjusted. Also check for vacuum leaks.
