My 79 Ford F 150 will start and run but as soon as I put it in drive it will shut down, what;s up with that?

Would it be the neutral safety switch possibly?

No, it only makes it able to start in park or neutral. Does this happen in reverse too?

Thanks Mark It was running and started cutting out, it would restart but as soon as it goes in any gear it just croaks, I dont know how to post a picture, I'm lucky I can get thru this
