77 Ford will not start
My truck won't start with the key all it will do
is click good battery solenoid good
connections new starter it will start if you
pull start it but it has a bad miss
it will start if you pull start ???? ign.switch sendung 12 volts to the solenoid?? grounds ok??? when it does start there is a bad miss..you say the battery is good?? did you load test it???
Ign switch is new and getting 12 volts to solenoid grounds good it has a bad miss from quarter to half throttle and yes battery was load tested
Possible starter problem yet, they are a b**** to rebuild and get right on those style starters, I know, I use to rebuild them.
Switch on the headlights and try to start it. Do the headlights stay nice and bright? If so, it's the starter or possibly the neutral safety switch. If the headlights dim or flicker badly it's going to be a battery cable connection. As for the miss, I'd run a compression test. Given the age of your truck you may have a weak cylinder that isn't developing enough compression under load to fire. Especially if it's a "dead" miss. I'm assuming, of course you changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and tested the ignition coil. HTH. -Jim
