What's my car worth?
My grandmothers car is a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu with 55,000 miles. It is robin egg
blue, 2-door, with 305 small block engine. The transmission was rebuilt and is
warrantied. The interior is all original and in great condition. The only interior flaw is
the headliner is beginning to come down. The exterior is in good condition with only
very small area of minimal rust. I am required by probate court to sell the vehicle but I
have been unable to find a suitable range. This is a project car for someone who
wants a fixer-upper.
sounds real nice, but then you say "minimal rust" and "fixer upper" I guess this means it needs repairs and cosmetics- still, it is a real grandma car, and a two door and a V8- without seeing it, I would think $3000-
Thank you. When I say minimal rust - please see picture. When I say fixer-upper, I mean it needs a new headliner, it has been garaged and sitting so most likely needs new belts and hoses.... in my opinion, it needs a really good detailing. It is not "show" quality. All. of the chrome trim is intact and without flaws. there is a small door ding on the passenger side rear quarter panel. it could be painless removal.
Looks like a really nice car- you should just keep it- and keep it garaged- as time goes by, it will be a conversation starter- and it will appreciate- If you must sell it, understand that not a lot of people will think it is valuable- but I do- but I have no money- so I would hold out for 3 grand- and keep it if nobody wants to pony up- if you sell it for less, someone will just trash it-
