How much is the labor and used parts price for new air conditioning unit?

Asked by Guru9L29XS Sep 10, 2021 at 04:16 AM about the 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car was running very loud and we realized the serpentine belt had been
broke so I bought a new serpentine belt  And when we put it on the car would
not turn on when you take it off it starts up and runs without the serpentine
belt on I was told it was possibly in frozen air condition unit does that mean I
need to call a junkyard and get a used air condition unit from a car at a
junkyard or do I buy something like that brand new how much are we talking
should it cost to fix something like this and how many hours of labor are we
looking at if you could help me out I’d greatly appreciate it

You don't want to ever buy used air conditioning parts. More often than not the parts will have moisture in them, especially the accumulator or receiver dryer, that will cause the air conditioning to not work anyhow. To see what is seized try turning all the pulleys by hand with the engine off and the serpentine belt removed. All but the big pulley at the bottom center of the engine should spin freely. To replace the air conditioner compressor and related parts it's going to be around $800 to $1,200 parts and labor. Hope that helps! Jim
