Brakes

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My husband just changed the brakes
and rotor on his rear driver side
because they started scrubbing and
had gotten really bad; well he tried to
drive after and he’s still having to put
the brakes all the way to the floor to
get it to stop, he bled the brakes after
changing them. His abs is on but it
comes on and goes off randomly and
has been for about 2-3 weeks.
Brakes have some pressure on them
when the cars off but when he turns
the car on he has to brake all the way
to the floor in order to get the car to
stop. It stops, just takes a while.
Traction control is off, someone
suggested try that to see if it made a
difference. It didn’t.

Would do an obd scan to see if there are pending codes and inspect brake lines and calipers for leaks. Most likely to properly bleed system of air perhaps trapped in abs module a vehicle specific scan tool is needed. Some people have had some results doing hard braking to activate pump without tool. Hopefully you replaced both right and left sides during the pad/rotor replacement. Good Luck!
