Check engine light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my check engine light has been coming on - I took it in for a repair -
Goodyear said it was carbon build up - spent $450 getting that service done.

Not a week later the light is on again.

Car is hesitating and running roughly when idling.  Seems like whenever I fill
the gas tank the light comes on, and as the tank lowers, the light eventually
turns off.

Does this make any sense??  Any idea what the issue might be?

Before you spend big bucks on carbon cleaning (which is a scam a lot of the time) use a carbon cleaning product in the gas tank. Make sure the engine operating software is up to date as well.

Unfortunately already did the carbon cleaning. On that receipt it says "after performing the repairs, test drove, after the test drive found code P011. The code cleared after 2nd cycle"

Seems I have an check engine light on my Captiva constantly. I get it fixed and two days later a new code will come on. I put a sticker over it and gave up. Good luck.

To follow up: First service was Throttle Body/Fuel Induction/Spark Plugs - did not fix the problem. 2 weeks later ended up replacing VVT Solenoids (intake, exhuast) and that fixed the problem.
