Glowing wire on top of alternator

Voltage regulator inside alternator is spiking (bad), time to replace it, If it was a newer alternator I would open the alternator up and replace just the voltage regulator but if the alternator is original to the ford and its 17 tears old I would replace the alternator as a whole unit

That isn't supposed to happen- do you have a mechanic you can trust? if the truck runs take it to the garage- let a qualified mechanic tell you what's wrong-
