If you can't reach the trunk release by going threw the back seat, try hooking, jumping a good battery to it to get power. The back seat has latches in the top corners so it can pull down to gain access.

Lol I think you got a winner. I guarantee she didnt know it was there. Kids these days growing up never unlocking a trunk or door with a key.

Yeah, there is no manual lock for the 2011. Just ran into the same problem.

I have the same issue. Dead battery and jumper cables are in the trunk. No key hole to open from the outside and I am too old to crawl through my backseat to reach that release latch way in the back of the trunk. What a STUPID design this was to have no way to easily open the trunk lid when it has a dead battery. I have googled ways to access the trunk when the battery is dead and nothing but the “crawl through your back seat” comes up. Should be a recall on this to add an easy access release when battery is dead. What good is having a trunk to store jumper cables in if you can’t easily get to your trunk when your battery is dead!! And please don’t respond with ignorant commemts. Unless you have one of these cars, you have no idea. Has nothing to do with age. I’m an older, intelligent woman. Either way, no one should have to crawl to reach that latch. Poor design from Chevy is the problem.

OMG this just happened to me. I have a 2012 sonic. I’m searching internet for how to get in and it looks like it’s not going to happen. Stupid design!

I had the same problem with the battery dead and trunk wont open until a kid showed me a hidden button at the top of the back seat. (really hidden) I couldnt open with outside button but once I opened half the back seat it was easy to pull inside latch of trunk.

It really doesn’t have a button to open without key or battery. Wow. Fuck Chevy. My next car is gonna be a Honda 100%

I just had the same problem. In my malibu on the passenger side back seat, the seat folds down and I was able to access the trunk that way

Open the hood next to the fuse box there is a + symbol on a black cover. The red jump cable goes there. Next to the firewall there is a black wire with a metal long end the black jumper cable goes there

just had this issue with my sister's Subaru. She crashed it, destroyed the front. firemen had to cut electric to avoid a fire. There are no inside locks to pull up on the back doors or passenger front door and no key lock to the trunk. Cannot now get into the back seats or the trunk to get stuff out of the trunk. We are both older and no way we can crawl from driver's seat to the back seats and into the trunk. My 2014 malibu also has only the crawl through if no power. This is assinine. There should be a key lock on the trunk of every car.
