GLI suspension the same/similar to GTI?

Asked by Jul 20, 2009 at 12:58 PM about the 2009 Volkswagen GLI

Question type: General

Recently switched to a GLI after several years of GTIs including a 2006 MkV. To say the least I'm very disappointed with the performance of the 2009 GLI- I though the handling would be much more similar to the GTI except accounting for the added size/height. My experience thus far has been considerably more body roll and nervousness/unsettling when pushed- this despite having the 18 in wheels. Did I simply buy a dressed up Jetta?

yes it is identical!! the only difference between the 2 is the driver seat back. Having larger rims will do that, I am running after market 19x8.5 rims and they are amazing, but I also have a 2" lowering spring I have added as well

if i'm not mistaken i do believe the suspension is the same between the GTI and GLI. Yea, sadly its a spiced up Jetta, but the GLI's do have the better suspension set up than the regular jetta's. The overall car is designed well, but functionality of it not so much. The 09 is the last year of the GLI and in a way I'm happy, hoping they revamp it in a comeback a few years from now much better. But for the body roll, just get used to it i guess. It's not as small and nimble like the GTI. It's bigger and longer.

If same body style say, mkv or so suspension is different in rear, but same in front from gli to gti i believe.
