1999 ram van 1500 blower has been switching to defrost on acceleration now transmission acting funny- why?

my 2000 1500 was doing similar. it turned out to be vacuum leak in vacuum line between intake and heater controls. fixed cracked "t" in vacuum line and all started working fine. hope this helps
