The 2001 & 2002 are from the same generation Windstar's, so the engines are compatible. They came with 2 different engines a 3.0L and a 3.8L, make you replace with the same one for less modifications/transmission and a PCM replacement.

Thats good to hear. All ive been told before is that it has to be a 2001 only with no explanation. Its a 3.8 l. Will i just have to change sensors?

Depends on it they are still good on the old motor, check with your local mechanic. But there could be some internal differences between the 2 motors I'm not aware of.

Can i put a 3.8 ina 2000 windstar the engine is from a 96 windstar?
