Truck won't go into gear unless in 4L

Bottom line - I was in 4Hi ... I was having trouble backing up on some ice... I put the truck into 4Lo
and started to pull out and I heard a loud clang (metal on metal). Now, my truck won't go into gear
unless int is in 4Lo. Any suggestions?
