Question type: General

what does 442 stand for

3 Answers

it used to stand for 4 barrel 4 speed and dual exhaust or posi i cant quite remember

4 Barrel, 4- speed (Initially stood for a manual 4-speed but later automatic), and dual exhaust. The 1987 Cutlass 442 was the last 442 that met the requirements. The last 442, the 442 Calais that followed in the 90s had a 5-speed manual, quad-cam, and dual exhaust, it missed the mark and was a disappointment to the 442 heritage.

Cubic Inches, we always thought!
