Engine swap in 68/69 ford fairlane

Asked by ZackC2003 Dec 26, 2019 at 01:28 AM about the 1969 Ford Fairlane

Question type: General

Asking which engine would be best for a
fairlane. We have done paint and I plan on
upgrading a lot on the car(suspension and
trans included). I’m asking y’all what would be
best between a built 289or something
different. Reason is it has an old Cleveland
engine in it and I don’t trust it. What would be
best in yalls minds?

What exact engine do you have? 351 Cleveland? I would rebuild the engine you have. There are lots of high performance parts for the old Ford engines.

I did a little checking. Your car came originally with a number of different engines but not a Cleveland. It could be a Windsor V8 or a FE engine like the 390.

Thankyou. I’ll probably just rebuild the engine Bc it looks solid so far just beaten up. Thanks for the help
