1966 Ford Galaxie 500 289 air cleaner

Asked by May 29, 2018 at 10:58 PM about the 1966 Ford Galaxie

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I pulled off my air cleaner on my 1966 Galaxie 500 289 and no air filter.  The air cleaner is a one piece unit and looks like it does not use a filter.  Is there supposed to be an air filter on these 289's?

Post a photo of the air cleaner. All cars need a filter.

It is rhe stock air cleaner on a 289. It does not separate.

It is hard to get apart. I had to use a rubber mallet to separate the top. I ended up buying an aftermarket chrome. My Galaxie didn't have a filter either but it is a 2 piece unit.
