With a name like Touring, this trim of the updated 2008 Honda Odyssey is geared toward a comfortable, trouble-free ride. This means more standard equipment, such as memory settings for the power heated mirrors, and standard rear DVD player, navigation system, Bluetooth, and a 6-CD player with upgraded sound system. New this year are MP3 capability and an input jack. These features are in addition to the full power setup, 8-way power driver's and 4-way power passenger seat, leather upholstery, heated seats, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, satellite radio, leather and wood accents, a sunroof, remote entry, security system, and intermittent front and rear wipers.
The 2008 Honda Odyssey Touring shares the new 3.5-liter, 241-hp iVTEC V6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management with the EX-L, meaning it can save on gas by deactivating two or three cylinders when not needed. A 5-speed automatic is the only transmission. The 2008 Odyssey Touring adds more safety features, including larger 17-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tires and front and rear parking assist. Along with a rearview camera, auto-dimming rearview mirror, 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, traction and stability control, rollover sensors, dual front-side and side curtain airbags for all rows, a tire monitor, foglights, and daytime running lights, these features earn five stars in crash tests.
The 2008 Odyssey Touring now seats eight, rather than seven, with the 2nd Row PlusOne seating arrangement replacing the two seats and center console setup. A new storage bin adds the space functionality lost with the departing console. Dual power sliding doors are joined by a power liftgate and power-adjustable pedals in the 2008 Odyssey Touring. A roof rack can be added to increase storage capacity, and other options add running boards, mudguards, a cargo net and cover, and a tow package.
