2007 Toyota Sequoia Trims and Specs

The full size Toyota Sequoia is one year away from a total design. Aside from minor mid-cycle styling revisions in 2003, the Sequoia has changed little since its introduction. There are four Sequoia variations available for 2007, two interchangeable trims and drive trains. The 4x2 SR5 is the base model.

All Sequoias are powered by a 4.7 liter V-8, which produces 273 horsepower and 314 pound-feet of torque. In addition to the Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology that supports all Toyota engines, the Sequoia V-8 features the i-FORCE system. This enhancement offers seven additional horses and significantly lower emissions. The Sequoia is Toyota's first SUV to earn the ULEV ultra low emissions rating. Fuel economy is rated at 15/18 mpg.

Although the SR5 is the lowest priced Sequoia model, standard features are commensurate with what should be expected from $30,000+ SUV. Dual zone climate control, power windows and locks, power down rear window, and a six speaker CD audio system are all included. Despite seating only eight, the Sequoia includes ten cup holders. Most options like leather seats and additional power features are packaged together. A DVD navigation system is also available.

The 4x4 SR5 Sequoia moves one notch above the entry point, due to the addition of four wheel drive. While the SR5 trim is considered the base model, that is a bit of a misnomer here. Although this model costs nearly $10, 000 less than the upscale Limited Sequoia, it is still very well-equipped. Dual zone climate control, power windows and locks, power down rear window, and ten cup holders are included.

Thanks to a removable third row of seats, all Sequoias offer seating for eight. Most of the SR5's options are arranged in packages like Preferred (adds leather, power seats, and steering wheel audio controls), and Convenience (includes heated mirrors, Homelink, and a trip computer). A DVD navigation system, rear seat DVD entertainment, and a JBL ten speaker audio system are also available.

The Sequoia's engine is a 4.7 liter i-FORCE V-8, which offers more horsepower and lower emissions than the 4.7s found in the Tundra and 4Runner. The 273 horsepower engine is mated to a five speed automatic transmission, and also supported by Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology. Because the Sequoia weighs so much, its towing capacity falls short of the V-8 4Runners, at 6500 pounds. The addition of 4WD does not lower the 15/18 mpg fuel economy.

Now in its seventh year, the Toyota Sequoia remains unchanged. Of the two available trim levels, Limited provides a more luxurious finish, at a significantly higher price. The Sequoia Limited includes items like a sunroof, leather, keyless entry, and running boards on the list of standard features. These amenities are available as options on the SR5. Both Sequoia variations can be equipped with a DVD navigation system, JBL audio upgrade, and a rear seat DVD entertainment system.

Toyota also offers the Limited Sequoia as a 4x2. Along with the loss of 4WD, this model is differentiated by a 200 pound drop in curb weight. The performance specs and 15/18 mpg fuel economy are not changed by either drive train option. The Sequoia houses a more powerful 4.7 liter V-8 than its smaller 4Runner relative. This boast is due to the addition of i-FORCE technology, which squeezes out a few additional horsepower and also lowers emissions to ULEV status. The 273 horsepower and 314 pound-feet of torque enable the Sequoia to tow 6500 pounds. The full size SUV is only available with a five-speed automatic transmission.

The Limited 4x4 is the most luxurious and well-equipped of the four available 2007 Sequoias. The full size SUV offers convenience features like power windows and locks, cruise control, dual zone climate control, ten cup holders as standard items, and the Limited model adds a sunroof, leather heated seats, a ten speaker JBL sound system and keyless entry to that list. Most options are packaged together, but there are individual add-ons like a DVD navigation system, rear seat DVD entertainment, and a rear spoiler. On the Limited, a rear height control air suspension system is also available.

The Sequoia's power plant is the familiar 4.7 liter V-8 found in the Tundra and the 4Runner, but a few adjustments have been made. All V-8s use Variable Valve Timing + intelligence, but Sequoia's engine adds the i-FORCE system. i-Force offers another horsepower boost, and also reduces emissions beyond VVT-i alone. The 273 horsepower Sequoia is the first SUV to earn an ultra low emissions rating. The 5300 pound SUV consumes fuel at a rate of 15/18 mpg.

Along with its well established reputation for reliability, Toyota also features some notable safety advances in many models. The Sequoia is equipped with the Star Safety System, which includes Vehicle Stability Control + Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist. The standard Advanced Airbag System includes roll-sensing side curtains and a cut-off feature.
