2000 Jaguar S-TYPE Trims and Specs

This sedan is the lower-priced of the two 2000 Jaguar S-Type models. Power is supplied here by a 3.0 liter V-6, which provides the 3650 pound mid-size sedan with 240 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy is estimated at 18/26 with the V-6 power plant.

The 3.0L S-Type comes equipped with keyless entry, automatic dual-zone climate control, leather seats, power front seats, heated mirros, a trip computer and an anti-theft system. Safety equipment includes ABS, front side airbags, automatic headlights and traction control.

This S-Type model upgrades to a 4.0 liter V-8 power plant, which bumps up horsepower by more than 40, to 281. The V-8 also provides 287 pound-feet of torque, which is 66 more than the V-6. Fuel economy falls slightly with the V-8, to 17/23 mpg.

The two S-Type models were priced in the same range and similarly equipped. The 4.0 provides a few additional features, and a better overall value considering current detail retail prices. Like the 3.0L version, this model comes standard with keyless entry, leather upholstery, heated mirrors, traction control, dual-zone automatic climate control, power front seats, an anti-theft system and a trip computer. The 4.0's upgrades include electro-chromatic mirrors, a power moon roof and memory settings for the power seats.
