A 3.3-liter, 150-hp V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission power the 1994 Grand Caravan Cargo Van. The three-door minivan seats two and offers the bare basics for interior comfort. Always standard are the power steering and brakes, 15-inch wheels, tinted glass, and intermittent wipers. In 1994, the biggest new standard feature on all Grand Caravans is dual front airbags. To serve its basically utilitartian function, the Cargo Van gets heavy duty suspension and styled steel wheels.
At 19/23 mpg, most owners find the Grand Caravan Cargo Van a great value for the money, and many own one for a long time. It's roomy and can carry a lot of cargo. Its boxy look belies its great engine power, particularly with the 3.3 V6. Peeling paint and repairs remain the number one gripe.

The Grand Caravan STD is exactly what its name implies -- standard. It is the base model and therefore does not offer a lot of bells and whistles as its standard features. Equipped with a 3.0-liter-142-hp V6 and 3-speed automatic standard, it offers cloth bucket seats, power steering and braking, a clock, intermitten wipers, dual front airbags, and rear window wiper. It gets about 18/23 mpg.
For a family car that seats seven in three rows, it is the most affordable line of the Grand Caravans. Drivers says the engine power is decent and it handles well in the snow. The roomy interior is always a big hit, and many owners feel it is sturdy and durable. Same old problems with transmission and bad paint jobs.

The new standard feature (a first for any minivan) on all Dodge Grand Caravans in 1994 is dual front airbags, and important step forward in safety, especially for this large minivan that seats seven, yet still fits in most garages.
The biggest difference between an SE and the base model is the engine. With a 3.3-liter, 150-hp V6, the Grand Caravan SE is peppier than it looks, and has enough power to adequately handle large loads. Standard features include cruise control, intermittent wipers, power side mirrors, tilt steering wheel, and remote trunk release. A lot of drivers feel their Grand Caravan SE is dependable and reliable in the long run, despite transmission problems that plaque this vehicle. Its hauling capacity is a huge draw.

All-wheel drive is available on the SE, LE, and ES trims of the Grand Caravan. New in 1994 is standard rear-wheel ABS brakes on all AWD Caravans. The 1994 Grand Caravan SE features a 3.3-liter, 150-hp V6 standard, and other than the AWD and ABS, does not vary from the regular Grand Caravan SE. Options include power windows and locks, integrated child seats, captain's chairs, roof rack, alloy wheels, and leather steering wheel trim.
Owners like the look and styling, both inside and out of the Grand Caravan SE AWD, as well as its good gas mileage for such a large minivan. Most who buy the AWD do so because of where they live or what they're going to use it for, and it doesn't disappoint. Reliablity and repairs remain the major complaint.

This year, the 1994 Grand Caravan LE gets some new standard features that previously were only available as options or on the ES trim, including lighted entry and a tachometer. New this year for LE and ES is remote keyless entry. All Grand Caravans get dual front airbags this year.
Other standard features include overhead and center consoles, power heated mirrors, rear window wiper and defrost, intermitten wipers, power locks, and cruise control. The minivan could almost drive itself. A lot of owners consider their Grand Caravan LE very reliable, with versatile seating configurations, and a convenient console. The main difference between the Grand Caravan LE and its AWD counterpart is that rear-wheel ABS now comes standard with AWD vehicles in 1994. The ABS is available only as an option on regular Grand Caravan LEs.
Otherwise, it offers the same engine (a 3.3-liter, 150-hp V6), and interior standard features, such as a tachometer, power locks, overhead and center consoles, lighted entry, keyless entry, and power heated mirrors. Options available in the LE and not the SE include the 3.8-liter, 162-hp engine, a camping/towing package, fog lights, leather seats, sport suspension, and a premier audio system.

The 1994 Grand Caravan ES AWD combines luxury, utility, and rugged power to meet the needs of both city driving and off-road adventure. Its standard 3.3-liter, 150-hp V6 can be upgraded to a powerful 3.8-liter, 162-hp V6 for that extra push when tackling rough conditions.
The AWD version of the ES offers the same standard features as the regular ES, with the exception of ABS. Rear-wheel ABS is standard in all AWD Grand Caravans, and only an option in the regular models. Some features that come optional on LE trims are standard in the ES, such as fog lights and sports suspension.
Drivers loved the performance of the AWD and the engine, particularly when upgraded to the 3.8 V6. Peeling paint, a wide turn radius, and repair issues were the major negatives.
