The 2022 Mercedes-Benz Metris Cargo Van is a more sophisticated take on the work van. It provides the utility and features to get the job done, but it also offers the latest in-car and safety technologies. The Metris is available in 126-inch and 135-inch wheelbases and can be selected with a rear liftgate or with barn doors. The barn doors open to 180 degrees or, optionally, to 270 degrees, which allows the doors to fold nearly all the way around to the sides of the van. Whichever door style you choose, they open on 199 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Metris comes standard with steel wheels and plastic, unpainted bumpers. The Metris can be optionally configured with 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels, body-color painted bumpers, a chrome grille, a driver’s side sliding door, and integrated roof rails.
Inside, standard equipment includes USB and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are a number of packages that add creature comforts such as heated front seats, power-adjustable front seats, and cruise control.
The Metris Cargo Van is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It makes 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. This setup allows the Metris to tow up to 5,000 pounds. It has a 2,425-pound payload capacity. Fuel economy estimates for the Metris Cargo Van are 19 mpg city, 23 highway, and 21 combined.
The Metris Cargo Van comes standard with driver-assistance features such as automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning. There are also optional driver aids, including rain-sensing wipers, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
