The revamped Chrysler Sebring Convertible was the first Sebring model introduced for the 2008 model year, and it incorporates styling changes that were introduced with the 2007 Sebring hardtop. New exterior design elements included a grooved hood with six long lines that stretch from the front end to the windshield and upsloped side lines that give the Sebring a more aggressive yet contemporary appearance. The 2008 Sebring Convertible also featured an updated front grille and new wheels.
But the biggest news for the 2008 Sebring Convertible was the addition of an optional retractable hardtop, the first in the car's history. The hardtop raises and lowers at the touch of a button (located on the instrument panel and the key fob) and stores compactly in the trunk. The Sebring Convertible is also available with power-retractable softtops of cloth or vinyl.
Another new option is the available back-seat windscreen, which helps reduce turbulence for front-seat passengers. When not in use, the windscreen stores in the trunk.
Like the hardtop model, the Sebring Convertible comes in three trim levels. The Base version has a 2.4-liter double-overhead-cam, dual variable-valve timing (DVVT) inline four cylinder that produces 173 horsepower. Stepping up a notch, the Touring trim package includes a 2.7-liter double-overhead-cam flexible-fuel V6 that pumps out 189 horsepower. At the top of the line is the Limited model, with a 3.5-liter single-overhead-cam V6 that produces 235 horsepower.
The Base and Touring packages come with a standard four-speed automatic transmission, while the Limited is equipped with a six-speed AutoStick automatic transmission.
All models feature six-way power-adjustable front seats, power rack-and-pinion steering, air conditioning, power door locks, a keyless entry system, and an AM/FM stereo system with an in-dash six-disc DVD/MP3 player.
Among the Sebring Convertible's many options are a MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System with Sirius satellite radio and GPS navigation, heated front seats, and heated and cooled cupholders.

Ive had this vehicle for 10 years and 2 months. Best investment made. Paid 11k and it had 30k miles with one owner. Im now at 186k miles. I havent had any issues. Changed tires, oil, and normal maintenance and it has been a dream. The way its driving, I really believe I would be able to easily keep it for an additional 5-10 years. Looking to get at least 300k miles on it before considering a new vehicle. To this day I still take it on out of state road trips and it drives beautifully. One of the best and reliable vehicles to buy.Nov 30, 2023

Back in 2008, my neighbor won the brand new Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Hardtop Convertible Sebring Limited from a local casino. When I saw them in it I told them if you ever want to sell it to let me know. This couple only drove it on nice sunny weekends up here in the Pacific Northwest. Always garaged. Perfect condition 15 years later,17k miles on it, the owner needed to let it go. I couldnt get to the bank any faster if I flew.
Now the review. I went over this car with a fine eye. Everything was still factory except the oil and filter, and battery I liked the interior for its simplicity. No worries if you got caught in the rain. Leather heated seats, all the other bells and whistles too. All of them. I have replaced. all the fluids just for age. Even the tires at 15 years old showed no signs of age. I put new Michelin tires on it anyway. We did swap out the stereo system and installed one with Sirus , Garmin, and backup camera. The backup camera was a must with the high trunk lid. Sounds fantastic with the factory Boston Acustics Speakers. Put over 4000 miles on it with no issues. I expect the have this car for a very long time.
I would not have bought this car new at over 38,000 dollars. That was a lot of money in 2008
As far as value. A well maintained cared for car in perfect condition, everything works as new, looks new, drives like new, no dents, no dings, no recalls. I had no choice. I had to have itJul 18, 2023

Awful. Problem after problem with a horribly placed a/c unit where Ive been told in order to fix it theyve told me that I need to pay $2,000 just for them to get behind these radio and center console where the AC fan is or if theyre trying to fix it then they charge up and high due to the struggles of getting to that AC area. Yet they put that there and caused more of the headache than ever to myself as an owner dealing with it cuz its something constantly needing attention and they have to know placing it there was going to be a inconvenience. Anything Chrysler is garbage. Covetable top will not complete cycle and latches will not lock lid in closed position. Lots of suggestions but no real answers. I hate all the complexity of any automobiles now a days. It just means more cost to repair!!!Sep 28, 2021

Great clean aspect to rag top when it stores in trunk. Unfortunately, that feature limits cargo storage space. Trunk lid is a little high preventing clear vision when backing up. Battery compartment requires removal of front left tire .. a little inconvenient.Dec 26, 2014

horrrible battery location which requires wheel arch trim removal to gain acess. Electrics can be temperamental. I don't like the tipm idea with no relay switches for wipers, headlamps etc. If the TIPM is faulty it is very expensive to replace it. Parts are difficult to obtain in the UK and if you manage to find them they are expensive. I wouldn't buy another for this reason. UK mechanics do not like working on these cars! When buying this car I thought I would give US car market a try though this has put me off trying again. My model is 2008 and only done 28000 MLS and there is rust coming through on the front of the bonnet. This was a shock to me. I will stick with the old UK or German models from now on.Jan 25, 2014

Love that it is a American branded car. And that is not to say that I am a USA snob. Its just that I feel good when I buy USA. So, the car.... A solid drive, does not feel like your in a small car nor does it feel like you are in a tank. I feel safe driving it. Even when the top is down. The sound quality from the stereo has been my favorite part of this car. AM and FM sounds great, but When I plug in my phone, the sound from Pandora is even better! There has only been one thing that I had to fix twice, and that is the seat back release on top of the seat. It has a seat back releas on the bottom of both seats and on the top. The top ones dont seam to be the best. So, with that said I think its a great solid car over all. Mar 22, 2013

The seats are high and firm enough that an all day drive is a pleasant experience - top up or down. The Mercedes design influence is evident from the seat height to the build quality.
Not a hot-rod by any stretch, but makes me smile whenever I am behind the wheel.

not bad... for my wife. Not made for anyone over 5'6". So far have not had any issues. It doesn't have very good brakes or handling. But it is comfy and the seat heaters are awesome. Nice stereo too. yupMar 11, 2012

When i got this car a month after it was in the shop...ALOT of drive train problems! It was built poorly, gas milage is horrible and its just all around a horrible vehicle! I had a 2005 Sebring Convertible Touring and it was underpowered so I looked for a 2008 soft top Limited model (I am a purist and do not like the hard top). Once I found and bought the car, I could not believer that it was a Sebring. It looks great, has a quick 3.5 liter engine and an amazing 6 speed automatic. Also thrown was electronic stability control and positraction so that all of it together yielded an awesome car for the money. It is a true boulevard car that now holds the road and is fast. It is not a Bimmer, so those who want one would be disappointed.
All in all for about $36,000, I got a sensational car with all of the bells and whistles and one that can get out of its way too. I love the soft top as it folds like the hard top. With the top up , the trunk is enormous.Jul 20, 2007

Starters keep burning up in my car.. randomly continues to run when i turn my car off.
I bought my Sebring a month and a half ago and i have already had to put 3 brand new Duralast starters in it. Ill be driving and then ill randomly hear a loud squeal/screeching sound that continues until i pull over and turn the car off.. when i turn the car off, i hear the starter still going (like its trying to start the car) but the key is in the off position. Its happened 5 times.. twice it randomly stopped before the starter gave out but the other 3 times the starter burnt up. The last time the starter burnt up (a few days ago) there was also a terrible smell and smoke coming from under the hood and even into the car. It smelt like an electrical fire. And then of course.. that starter completely burnt up again. What could be causing this? I need help.
