Subaru's most popular nameplate and the one that has outlasted all others gets few changes since its recent upgrade. The most notable addition to the 2007 Subaru Legacy is a new GT spec.B engine, available only in the sedan, for WRX-like performance.
The 2007 Legacy comes as a sedan or wagon, with seating for 4 or 5. You have your choice of a 2.5i, featuring a 175-hp 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine or a turbocharged version in the GT trims that hits 243 hp. All 2.5i trims, including Base, Limited and Special Edition, come with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, while the GT Limited also has a 5-speed automatic, and the GT spec.B features only a 6-speed manual from the WRX. Another interesting innovation for the 2007 Legacy GT models is SI-Drive. The Subaru Intelligent Drive allows you to choose between 3 engine modes for optimum performance—Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp.
The new GT spec.B Legacy also adds much more luxury inside, to go along with its high-performance engine. Heated leather seats and a navigation system are standard. It also features a stiffer suspension and less body roll than the GT Limited. Stability and traction control are standard as well.
ABS brakes, all-wheel drive, and 6 airbags are standard across the 2007 Legacy lineup. Wagons have roof rails and a rear spoiler. The 60/40 split-fold rear seats fold flat and have a trunk pass-through for long objects. Owners give high marks to its all-wheel-drive performance (the Legacy is popular in northern climes), interior comfort, high safety ratings and quiet ride. Negatives appear to be limited rear legroom, a small glovebox, and the need for more storage compartments.

We bought this car because we wanted something with AWD and something that wouldn't leave us stranded on the side of the highway. It definitely met those goals...but the suspension is so stiff that the ride is not too enjoyable. Living in Maine, the roads here are really really bad, and so unfortunately the stiff riding subaru is really noticeable.Aug 14, 2012

This car is a missile! sub 6 second 0-60 times and enough passing power to get you into a lot of trouble. While it does understeer in dry conditions, add a bit of slippery stuff and it's so easy to control. Rain, mud, snow? These are not things the LGT cares about. Makes a nice sound too and if you listen closely you can hear the shushing BOV.
The interior is a nice place to be with a well laid out center stack and nice large gauges. The stereo, which sounds dang good for a stocker, has easy to reach, well labeled buttons. It took all of 45 seconds to get all my presets in and tune the 3 band eq. My one biggest complaint is that it seems a lot of the interior trim is loose or not screwed together very well. This results in light leaks around the third brake light and a squeak coming from on top and under the dash.
Visibility is fantastic all around although it is a bit tough to tell where the back of the car is when parallel parking.
I've averaged about 25 mpg highway of premium but my average speed was up around 75, slowing down a bit would've improved that number. Around town is in the neighborhood of 20.
There are a lot of little things i.e. a clip in the rear deck to hold the center shoulder belt, SI-drive, frameless windows, no external antenna, etc. that really set the Legacy apart from the rest. You almost get the feeling that the car was designed by a person not a committee.
Yes, there is a premium to pay, and yes you see tons of Legacys (at least in MN) but seldom do you get this kind of power, comfort and stealth all in one package.Jun 06, 2012

Decently quick car with LOTS of aftermarket potential. Going stage 1 or 2 is very
easy and makes a big difference. Having a six speed manual makes it that much
more fun to drive. The spec.B suspension is very nice too.
The OTS maps for Cobb's AccessPORT increased mileage by 2-3 mpg while making
the car faster.May 19, 2012

I LOVED THIS CAR!
I loved its balance of power
Appearance is to die for
Cost of ownership isnt that of a tussle but as every Subaru owner knows is if you
treat your car bad it'll treat you the same way.
Fun factor: You can fit in as many speakers as you want in the trunk :pDec 03, 2011

I love everything about this car, the performance is great, the accelerator is very responsive, so is the braking and it corners like dream. It gives very good mileage even if you "kind of" speed on the gighway to work in the mornings.Aug 03, 2010

Lemon.
Turbo-lag.
Eats Mustangs, Z's, most anything off the line, but because of
the AWD there's not much high-end speed (136 mph is top
end). It can boldly go where no "race-car" has gone before,
and that's off roading. Awesome rally car. Feb 09, 2010

Underrated family rocket, the boxer engine is superb, awd is
amazing, reliability goes without saying. Fun to drive, but high
on fuel consumption and wish it had stability control
sometimes. Better than a 3 series BMW, faster than an M3

The performance of this car is excellent! The build quality is
very good, it's also well optioned! The cost of ownership has
been very low. Overall it's a lot of fun to drive! It is also
very sharp looking especially with those 18"s!Sep 09, 2009

We LOVED this Car! Unfortunately we traded it in for a 2009 Subaru Forester right before Jack was born......we needed more space. We had the 5speed manual...it was super fun to drive, got great gas mileage, good quality, and it looked great!Aug 27, 2009

The Legacy 3.0R B Spec Legacy SW is the best car that
I have ever owned. It is fast and fun, while superbly
comfortable. Seats are a perfect fit, and cornering
superb. Power is great, but it could cope with more. Jul 13, 2009

More my wife's car than mine, so I don't get to drive it on a completely regular basis. That being said, we both absolutely love our Legacy wagon. AWD and ABS make getting around in bad weather no problem. The steering feel is up there with BMW's. Very neutral handling near the limit. The interior layout and build quality are very good. The enormous sunroof really gets attention during the summer. Overall just a really good car. Feb 05, 2009

Love the reliability and cost to run.
Would like a higher level of luxury, went from an Audi A6 to this car and it id great fun because of the turbo but not as refined nor does the cabin have some of the luxuries or toys.
Wouldn't change my mind as the Audi killed me in servicing costs. Styling is certainly better than before but not stand out but it is probably the smartest buy I could have made for Vermont while still getting the fun of the turbo and the luxury of the Ltd Spec Dec 17, 2008

It has plenty of room, it's safe, and it gets good mileage. I have had some service related issues with it. My battery was leaking acid, and it had to be replaced. The side door panel was getting "de-laminated' and that had to get replaced. Luckily, Subaru offers good warranties. Any experience I've had dealing directly with Subaru North America has been great; however, the service at Southern States Subaru is absolutely TERRIBLE! Aug 28, 2008

I love this car...performance, quality, appearance, and cost are all amazing. I Love the fact that i blacked it out. I wish that there were some more luxury options available, but overall its an amazing deal and there is nothing like an all wheel drive turbo car. I absolutely love this carAug 13, 2008

I really like the feel and the look of the Legacy. Besides the All Wheel Drive,
it handles great, especially in the snow and mud. I believe the body has a
sporty look to it, especially the stock rims and the low profile tires and the
duel exhaust. The sport shift is a nice touch. Mar 09, 2008
what subaru vehicles and their year can accept a 2007 2.5i limited for a motor swap? Own an 07 legacy wagon and want to take my motor out of it and put it in another subaru but 07 legacy wagons are hard to find near me.
Hi, I have a subaru legacy 2007 and the check engine light keeps coming on every few months and the cruise control light noble at the same time. I've also been losing coolant. I've had our scanned and the codes come up as p0026 p0028 and p0506. I've had the oil control vvt valve changed a few months ago and lights went away, now lights are back.. please help
I've upgraded my tyres to something taller (235/45/17 vs 215/45/17) which has raised my ride height by about 1/2 inch overall. Does this lift affect the geometry of my suspension and thus my ball joints? Or does it remain the same regardless or tyre size?
Hello. I am after a little advice if possible please. The ilm fuse keeps blowing on my car when i turn the side lights on. The side lights still all work but it stops the interior dashboard lights, number plate lights and the fog lights working. But the fuses for all these are ok apart from The ilm fuse. The model of the car is legacy R 2.0 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Phil
I inherited a 2007 legacy that's been very well taken care of but needs a new engine. Thing is I can't afford to spend $1000+ on a direct replacement for the 2.5 H4 SOHC that's in it. I need to know if there are any other engines that will work in this model and typically come with a smaller price tag
