Fans of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Bullitt” have fond memories of the Dodge Chargers of the late 1960s. But those long, low, and lean coupes had two doors, not the four found on the 2007 Dodge Charger.
One year after Dodge reintroduced the legendary Charger nameplate on a family-sized 4-door sedan, the instantly popular car continues to line Chrysler’s coffers. Four trim levels are available: SE, SXT R/T, and SRT8. And if you need more cargo space than the 16.2 cubic-foot trunk can provide, be sure to check out the Dodge Magnum, which is the same car with a wagon body style and different front styling.
For 2007, a lower-priced version of the Charger SE equipped with a smaller 2.7-liter V6 engine joins the lineup. All-wheel drive (AWD) is a new option for all but the high-performance, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) SRT8 version, and a new rear-seat entertainment system with a DVD player debuts.

Angry, beady headlights flank a bold crosshair grille to give the blunt-faced 2007 Charger an appropriately menacing look. Choose the Charger SRT8, and the car gets a hood scoop and chunky 5-spoke wheels. Sharply kinked rear windows and a fast roofline do their best to make this sedan look more like the coupe from which its name is derived. Around back... well, Dodge’s imagination clearly had run its course.
An oversized 4-spoke steering wheel and an imposing dashboard greet the driver and front passenger. Aside from four recessed gauges, the Charger’s cabin is plainly outfitted. There’s plenty of hard plastic, too, which helps to make the car more affordable but also gives it an inexpensive look and feel.

For 2007, a new 190-horsepower 2.7-liter V6 engine debuts, but you should avoid this power plant. The 250-hp 3.5-liter V6 is far more satisfying, delivering a good blend of acceleration and efficiency. Of course, nothing beats the rumble of a Hemi V8, and the Charger’s 340-hp 5.7-liter is exceptionally good. For maximum acceleration and volume, though, get the SRT8 for its 6.1-liter V8 making 425 hp.
All but the base 2.7-liter V6 has a 5-speed automatic transmission. The cheaper engine also gets a cheaper 4-speed automatic. RWD is standard, with AWD an option on every Charger except for the SRT8.
Based on a platform derived from the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W210), the Charger is remarkably sophisticated in terms of its ride and handling. It feels like a solid, responsive, classic German sedan, and with either of the V8 engines, it sounds like a classic American muscle car. Comfortable for all-day blasts down the Interstate, nimble enough to handle heavy traffic in urban areas, and the epitome of cool in the school drop-off lane, the 2007 Dodge Charger is one of the most compelling cars in its class.

A full-size sedan, the Dodge Charger carries four adults in comfort, or five when necessary. The front seats are especially roomy, and you sit up tall in the saddle looking over the long hood.
To make the car accessible to the broadest possible audience, the Charger SE is pretty basic, though you can option one up if you have the extra money in the budget.
Most people will want the Charger SXT. It installs alloy wheels, the bigger V6 engine and 5-speed automatic, a premium sound system, and more. Additional upgrades for the SXT include leather, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, and a power sunroof.
The Charger R/T adds leather seats, power-adjustable pedals, and the all-important Hemi V8 engine as standard equipment. Similar equipment upgrades are offered for the R/T, along with sport-tuned steering, suspension, and exhaust; a set of 20-inch wheels; and a cool Daytona Package with special trim, colors, and exterior decals.
Performance is the point of the Charger SRT8. In addition to its 6.1-liter V8, it’s got 20-inch forged aluminum wheels, a performance suspension, upgraded brakes, and more. Inside, suede-trimmed performance seats are standard. A Super Bee Package equips the Charger SRT8 with a retro yellow-and-black color scheme.

The Charger’s standard stereo has a CD/MP3 player and includes large knobs and buttons and is quite easy to use. Satellite radio is standard with R/T trim, and versions of the car with navigation get a display screen and smaller knobs and buttons that can be hard to see and use. The available premium sound system is by Boston Acoustics.
This year, Dodge offers a DVD-based rear-seat entertainment system for the Charger. Evidently, lots of parents find the roomy car and its big trunk to be perfect for family duty, prompting Dodge to add the new option.

While the Charger is appealing as a family hauler, it falls short when it comes to safety. Sure, antilock brakes and stability control are aboard to help keep the car under control, but otherwise you’re on your own unless you opt for the side-impact airbags—and this is a car that tempts you to drive it like you stole it.
Should a crash occur, the Charger doesn’t do a good job of protecting its occupants. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) says it gets a Good rating for moderate-overlap frontal-impact protection, but side protection without the airbags is Poor. Even with the side airbags, the rating rises only to Marginal, matching the rating for the seats and head restraints.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is more forgiving. In NHTSA testing, the Charger does a good job, earning 4-star and 5-star ratings in all assessments.

Given its size and the sophistication of its Mercedes-derived underpinnings, the Charger isn’t cheap. To get the SXT you’ll spend around $28,000, and a V8 engine runs more than 30 grand. Outfit the Charger SRT8 with all of the extras, and you’re looking at a $40,000 car.
At the same time, nothing else in the family sedan segment offers this kind of attitude, bravado, and outright performance.

The charger has many sizes, from the little brother (2.7 V6) to the mean big brother (SRT8 Hell Cat). Yet having the little brother, it gives you comfort for long trips, its mechanically reliable if maintained correctly, and it has power to do what you need. although it is better on gas then the other meaner chargers, it still consumes a lot of gas. I recommend this charger to anyone, specially because of the sleek and aggressive look of the body, and the open room for 5 on the inside and the huge trunk. Sep 29, 2014

I liked everything about this car. Car wear many different hats. It can be a luxury family sedan that can fit the whole family on a trip. It can also be a fun toy with enough power to have fun on the weekends or with a buddy. The brakes and handling are wonderful. For a 2 ton vehicle, the car handles quite well in turns and in braking and acceleration. 0 - 60 in 4.75 seconds is nice.Jun 01, 2013

Great, old-school looks. The near-perfect 50/50 weight distribution and 245's all around give great grip. The power is great for the money, and just a few grand will get you SRT8 power with very little work. I just did 43 hours of driving in a week with this car and was never even slightly uncomfortable, which is surprising with my back problems. Good sound system, tape deck allows for a cheap, high quality ipod hookup. This car has a Mercedes suspension, transmission, steering column, traction control system, rear differential and plenty more. Basically, this car is worth much more than I paid. I loved this car. Great fun to drive. Had to give it up for financial reasons.
Loads of power for a 3.5l SXT. Stopped on a dime.
Good on fuel when you were light footed.
Leather seats were hot in summer though.

As you all know I have a 2007 Dodge Charger SRT Superbee. It has by far been the best car that I have ever owned. I have own many cars of all types. and by far the power and looks that get from Miss Bee have been AWESOME.

Unbeliveable performance. Some rear sway but weight distribution is excelent. The front seats are ajustable in countless configurations and even the break/gas pedals can be adjusted with a touch of a button.
There have been some isshues with tires, the originals do not last long! I now run on falkens. I also had to have a catalytic converter replaced but it was covered under my warrenty.
The gas is expensive. Use only premium gas! There is a huge difference in performance. Who feeds third rate hay to a first class throughbread? Besides your engine will last much longer and is designed to be pampered like this.
I owned a 1970 dodge charger with a 383cu inch enging with all the bells and whistles available from the factory for that time. My new charger makes the first look sick. I have had it from 0 to 100MPH in under 14 seconds. Yes it is fun to drive!Mar 04, 2010

Love it has good performance suspension is nice and you have to love the color. This one is #34 of 150 in Canada and one of 1650 in North America. Current modifications are Cold air intake. Future mods Headers, exhaust, 1.5 inch lowering springs, Shaker hood, LED tinted taillights, Halo Projector Headlights, SRT 8 front facia, Predator Tuner, Throttle body spacer, Viper style 20 x 9 front and 22 x 10 rear rims. PERFORMANCE - the acceleration is amazing, I got going 100mph in around a qurter mile. The car brakes and handles like a dream.
BUILD QUALITY - I am my cars second owner an I have not needed to make any repairs.
APPEARANCE - Exterior - I bealive is outstanding, I love the lime green color, it grew on me so quick. Interior - For the most part I love it, the only thing i am not a big fan of is th tape deck in the car, its 2007 I dont even know if they still make tapes anymore.

For a family car, this is a pretty fun car to drive. I have the 2007, which is the year that Chrysler went cheap on the trim. My Dad's 08 is noticably upgraded in regards to some interior components. The R/T package with the Hemi more than makes up for it. I would have preferred the perfomance suspension versus the touring suspension, although the family prefers the touring package. It pulls 28 mpg on the highway, but my lead foot sends the average down to 22.Aug 10, 2009

The most car for the money, 5-star crash rating, big, comfortible, 3.5 V6 adequate, but 90 feels like 60 and will get up to 130mph!. 25-27 mpg highway, not bad for a 2-ton car!I have made many cool mods to get more power and now it does move! Great looks, solid build and very reliable. Interior bland but so much after market stuff for Charger that I dressed it up. This car will do everything you want it to do. It has amazing acceleration, great brakes, quiet but furious engine. It has no scratches or dents. This is my favorite 4 door car i have ever driven. Incredible speed, lots of power off the line. Wish they put in a different transmission, felt like too much power for it. i bought the car brand new, only 100 km. i test drove it and loved it. the cars acceleration is awsome, when i step on it the car goes, for a 3.5 v6 it has 250 hp, and 250 ft lbs of torque the auto/stick feature makes the car really fun to drive. the car looked really plain with the old steel rims with plastic hubcaps but since i've put rims on its been getting lots of looks and many people have complimented me on it, the braking and handling are awsome very responsive the gas mileage could be better but i can't complain to much, it costs less to fill up than the old truck.
since i have only had the car for a few months nothing has gone wrong the car sounds good but needs a better exhaust make it sound real good. the car feels real strong and i havnt had one issue yet Jul 17, 2008

modifications - its a supreb car when u modify ur parts either performance parts and apperance parts.
the spare parts are not that expensive and available most of the time.

The Dodge Charger is a surprisingly capable car. It's size would make one think that handling and braking would be commensurate with other vehicles of this size. It handles well, stops well, and is fairly comfortable. Interior build quality is lacking somewhat and the cruise control is not terribly intuitive.Feb 24, 2008

The interior is gray in colour, has the racing seats, all controls are at your fingertips, power everything!! tones of room, can get to the trunk through the back seat, has a speed shifter, no need to put a system in, the base in that thing is enough already to blow an ear drum! lol.. It handles like it's on rails, so quite when it's running you don't even know it's on... but when you give it the gas....MAN THE SOUND IS SWEET!!! you can go from 0-60 in under 4 seconds!!!!! I'm always the first one off the line at a stop light and that's only touching the gas! I've had more vehicles wanting to race off the line... and I laugh every time... cause??? Lets just say I'm waving in my mirror at them!! lol, as far as the exterior goes... well!! JUST LOOK AT IT, need I say more?? Anyone who has not had the opportunity to drive the Dodge Charger R/T Daytona is missing out on one of life's coolest experiences. I am fortunate enough to enjoy this feeling everyday. After my test drive last month, I spent no more than a nano-second deciding to buy the Plum Crazy Daytona. It accelerates faster than most people would need to meet their recommended daily allowance for adrenaline. The purple color brings second looks, thumbs up from fellow drivers and even the occasional person compelled to tell you how cool your car is. If you do not like being the center of attention then this may not be the car for you.
