Recent updates to the Tiburon sports coupe make it an affordable, stylish, and sporty rival to more expensive foreign sports cars. This year, the 2006 Hyundai Tiburon adds a new GT Limited trim, offering a sunroof, a 6-CD changer, upgraded audio system, and leather seats. Also new this year is standard ABS brakes, previously only offered with the SE, foglights and a remote alarm on the key fob.
The front-wheel drive coupe comes in GS, GT, GT Limited, and SE trims, with the latter three all available with a 2.7-liter, 172-hp V6. The GS features a 2.0-liter, 138-hp I4, which struggles a bit to move the 3000-pound Tiburon. A 5-speed manual or 4-speed shiftable automatic are available on all but the SE, which comes only with a 6-speed manual. All levels offer dual front-side airbags, foglights, and ABS brakes, earning five stars in crash ratings. A rear spoiler grows in size with each trim, as do the wheels (from 16 to 17 inches). Front sport seats keep you secure around curves, and the cramped rear seats fold down to expand the 14.7 cubic foot trunk.
Drivers agree that the 2006 Tiburon is fun to drive, though it's not quite as responsive as the Civic Si or Acura RSX, mostly due to its weight. The V6 power is impressive, as is the handling, seat comfort, trunk space, and outstanding Hyundai warranty. Owners like that it looks more expensive than it is. Downsides include disappointing fuel economy, limited leg and headroom in the back seat, and lack of standard cruise control on the base model.

The Tiburon prove to be a wonderful driving car with a lot of power. Very easy to handle, especially with the 6 speed manual transmission. I liked the solid ride that the car provides. Easy access getting in and out. The car is tightly sealed and provides for a quite ride.Jan 23, 2015

It is a small vehicle, made for speed and also to look good while flying down the highway. it handles nice and breaks when you want it to. has a very decent pick up and go for the size of engine. the only downfall to the car is the interior size of it. not that roomy in the back for tall people, even thought the front has enough room for anyone. price rage is usually affordable.Oct 15, 2014

This tiburon is the best car I have owned since i have been driving. handling is great a bit costly on the maintenance brakes and tires seem to go through them quickly but the car is the best so far i have owned, want to keep this one for a while Mar 22, 2014

power from a dig is pretty good not much at the top end so it a pretty torquey car.
can handle turns very well. and brakes are pretty good better than most.
build quality is pretty good not to cheap looking very comfy car to drive
as far as the looks... the car is pretty dang sexy at least to me

The sportiness of this car definitely is a plus because even though it's stock and only pushing about 180 hp, it's still fun to drive. And from what i've seen from some of my buddies tibs, a dual exhaust looks and sounds mean. With just a few upgrades, this car could please almost any car enthusiast.Apr 09, 2012

A magnificent little fuel-efficient car. It has a 14 gallon tank, and I can usually go about 360 miles without having to fill up.
Braking and acceleration are great. Well, for what I use it for, which isn't racing. Of course, brakes wear down after 50,000 miles. Only thing I've had to fix in it is the battery, after about three years, and of course oil changes, and new tires. One really bad thing about this car is it comes with low profile tires, which make rims easy to bend. I have had to replace two rims. I blame all the roadwork and random huge potholes.
The seats are very comfortable, but I recommend you're about 5'5" or your head is going to touch the top. Even being 5'5" and sitting in the backseat, your head will touch the back window. So be careful when the trunks closed! Or you're in for a headache. The trunk is very roomy though. You can fit a lot of stuff in there. For instance, a folded large dog crate, two 40lb bags of dog food, and a rim.
When I bought the car it was about $17,000, which isn't bad at all, considering the base price of most cars today. I think this is my favorite model of the Tiburon make, too.
It has a shift-o-matic transmission, meaning you can drive it as an automatic or a manual. Though it always has the manual feel because there is no clutch.Oct 29, 2011

I love this car! Got it for $16k with 10k miles on it used. I love the tight suspension and it drives really well in curves and accelerating. This is definitely a peppy and fun car to drive. It is not a luxury car, it is a sporty car. Don't expect to be cruising around like a town car or a boat, it is FUN to drive. So wish it was rear wheel drive! Oct 10, 2011

Awesome car! The appearance is sweet. The performance is good but im sure the
gt would be better but for a 4 speed v6 is can hold its own. The build quality is
decent for a foreign car but we will c how well it does comes winter. The cost is
extremely good depending on how many mileage it has on it. Mine had 45k and

The wheel rims should be change to larger size.
Improved interior mateials.
Improved build quality.
Apperance is much better than cars which had similar price, but the side fender vents are non- function.

I love the car in general. Great acceleration and the ride is fairly smooth for such a low car. Good gas mileage, to fill it up all I need is like $30. I love the sporty look of the car and how solid it feels on turns. The interior is gorgeous and very sporty. It already has bucket seats that hug your body and are very comfortable as you are driving. The outside does really look like a shark when you take good look at it. All together it cost me $16,000. Nice reliable car. Have had no problems with it other than wearing of the brakes and one bad strut mount due to driver error.
Does have a faulty A/C system when too much torque is applied to the belt. The tensioner falls off.

2.0 engine is torquey and nice after 3,500rpm, Trim lenel is top notch, Leather seats hug u in the corners, leather steering feels nice. The car looks gorgeous day & night. It will turn heads every time.

Anyone know what they were bypassing?
Found a white plug under dash by clutch pedal that had a loop of copper wire stuck into the neg/pos side of the white harness.took the wire out and car wont start. Put it back in and cranked up. Also when i plug the actual other half of that white plastic harness into the other side it won't start. Anyone have any idea what they bypassed so i can look into getting it fixed correctly
