The Hyundai Tiburon two-door sport coupe received a facelift for 2007. Exterior design upgrades included new looks for the front and rear of the car, plus new bumpers, hood, headlights, taillights, and chrome-tipped dual exhaust pipes, all of which gave the Tiburon a sleeker, more contemporary look. Inside improvements included blue-illuminated instrument gauges and readouts, additional chrome and gun-metal accents, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and an MP3 audio jack for the six-speaker, 220-watt Kenwood AM/FM audio system with CD player (in all trims but the GT Limited).
The 2007 Tiburon was available in four trim levels, from the entry-level GS to the better-equipped GT and GT Limited to the sport-tuned SE. The entry-level GS was equipped with a 2.0-liter, double-overhead-cam inline four-cylinder engine that produced 138 horsepower, while the other three trims received a 2.7-liter, double-overhead-cam V6 that produced 172 horsepower.
A five-speed manual was standard for the GS, GT and GT Limited, while a four-speed automatic was optional. The GS was available with only a six-speed manual.
Standard features for the Tiburon included air conditioning, power windows and door locks, heated exterior mirrors, a remote keyless entry system, fog lights, dual front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes, and a rear spoiler. The GS came with 16-inch wheels, while the other trims were equipped with 17-inch wheels.
The GT added a leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, and a trip computer, while the GT Limited added red leather seats, a power tilt-and-slide sunroof, and a premium Infinity 440-watt audio system. The SE added a sport-tuned suspension, seat bolsters, aluminum foot pedals, an Electronic Stability Control system, traction control, and upgraded brakes.
While drivers noted that the Tiburon was a good value, with an extensive list of standard features, sporty styling, and comfortable seating, some thought the coupe was underpowered when compared to the competition, especially for the four-cylinder model. Others noted that the Tiburon's handling could be less than responsive under hard driving, though adequate for round-the-town driving.
4.5 Overall rating
(33 reviews)The '07 and '08 Tiburon is a dinosaur. Yes, it looks pretty good from the outside, but inside is a different story. Even a person of average height and weight feels cramped in this car. The interior design is so-so, nothing special. The GT is close to 30 grand which is vastly overpriced when you consider you can buy a much faster and more roomy Dodge Charger with 18-inch wheels and rear-wheel drive for the same price as the Tiburon GT. The Tiburon GS still has a sorry 4-cylinder engine that is surpringly hard on gas. For $30,000 the Tiburon GT is a rip-off.
This car is great if you need to get from one place to another really fast. It has great acceleration and turns on a dime. Great acceleration, tops out at 120-130mph, handles amazingly! Stylish sporty look, metallic black paint job, great entry level sports car!
Excellent performance (V6) handling is wonderful and tight... nice interior
I purchased this car for my wife as her first car, she really loved it so much since it was small enough to fit in nearly every parking space and comfortable enough for a long trip from Phoenix to San Diego. The car handles well at top speeds and and at night everyone thinks your driving a ferrari due to its front headlights and shape. Its a very nice and a wonderful first car.
Performance- the handling is amazing, with a european-style tuned suspenion and the braking is also quite impressive {crossdrilled and slotted rotors with abs and ecs control}. The acceleration is quick but feels like the car is holding back alot, with a low-powered v6 compared to several V6s out there today...but im sure a tune and some aftermarkets would change it hehe.. The build quality is rather impressive, especially for being a hyundai and for a cheap price the cars cost. Though mine is a Korean market one so its slightly different from the american SE trim, the quality remains very impressive for the proce of the car. I feel the styling and appearance again is quite remarkable especially when you consider the lower end price of the car compared to its competitors. And my car speifically has one of the most brilliant colors ive come to like from a stock manufacture color. The gas mileage could be better considering its a 6speed V^, averaging only low 20's mpg.. but the fun of driving the car makes up for it big time :]
