The 2006 Crossfire was carried over from the previous model year, but Chrysler would not offer the Crossfire in 2007. A separate high-performance model, called the Crossfire SRT-6 was also discontinued after 2005.
This year, Chrysler continued with two trim levels, but the Base model was renamed the Standard. There are four models, two coupes and convertibles, ranging in price by almost $6000.
The Standard comes equipped with dual-zone climate control, full power accessories, stability and traction control, and ABS with BrakeAssist. Upgrades for the Limited include a six-speaker Infinity audio system, a tire pressure monitor, a cabin air filter, and power/heated leather seating.
All four models house a Mercedes-engineered 3.2 SOHC liter V-6, which provides 215 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is the only transmission choice on the Standard trim, while the Limited is available with a five-speed automatic. The Crossfire speeds from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, and drivers can expect mixed driving mileage around 20 mpg.

Theis mostly german American car has won my heart of the last year and a half that I've had it. It's handling and power are perfect for the city streets. You can zoom around and have fun on some of the twistier bits of roads and show off to your friends, but also stop on a dime or swerve out of the way of any idiots that try to kill you or your Crossfire. Not many are on the market because of the insane starting price that Chryler set for it, but used, the value is remarkable.
The Chrysler Crossfire is the perfect car for my driving philosophy, avoiding the accidents, so that you never acutally have one.Nov 14, 2011

This car is a real head turner as you do not see too many roadsters. Since it is based upon a Mercedes it has great build quality and some essence of German engineering. Very safe and fun car to drive.Oct 18, 2011

I love this car! Very dependable, tight and fast in corners. The scream of the V6 is pure music! There is almost no extra room besides that for two adults and a bag a piece. A romantic cruiser for the coast!
Love it!Oct 26, 2010

Great peppy little car. Only 215HP V6 and with an MSRP of over 35K you would expect at least 260HP. Design is beautiful and that was the real reason for buying it. Great Quality, a rarity to say the least.Mar 02, 2010

Whilst the car is not the fastest in the world, it accelerates well and thanks to its low profile and massive tyres, cornering at speed is brilliant.
Main drawback is the uninspiring interior.
Car always turns heads, particularly because it is rare.Aug 05, 2009

Simply an enjoyable 'Limited' roadster with discriminating looks and style. Less trouble getting in and out of than my '68 Jag E-Type, and it's getting just as many looks! Bought in prestine condition, 11,200 miles on a 2006 for $15,200US. Responsive automatic transmission but not for winning races off the line. Why race when you have luxury, anyways. Navigation updates seem impossible to locate. Test others but the CROSSFIRE will be a top contender, I am sure.Mar 17, 2009

Acceleration was good in 6.5 secs, but smaller hot hatches will beat it. It did offer 26 mpg though, was a very good looking car. Pick one up now for ã10K and what a car for the money. Merc SLK unerdneath so solid engine and reliability with American stylingAug 07, 2008

Great performance. Handles just like the SLK320.
Very little auxiliary noise other than a few interior
parts rattling. Cost of ownership is not bad. Due to
Mercedes parts it's a little more per visit, but the visits
are few and far between. It's a great [fun] car to drive.Jun 27, 2008

The fruit of a joint effort of both Chrysler and Mercedes Benz is definitly worth taking a look at. The fat rear wheels on this car give it a lot of stability and handling and the large breaks on the car are astonishing. Based on the only SLK chassis, the styling inside from what i have heard resembles Mercedes. As impractical and fun that this car has it does have its flaws. Low end torque is pathetic for a car of this caliber. In addition, so you don't think it's a Mercedes , they have toned down the 3.2 liter V6 to only 215 hp. But with that aside once you get past 2nd gear the car takes off. My father has a manual but i heard the torque is not as much of an issue with the automatic. Apr 18, 2008

I had the opportunity to test drive the Crossfire and I must say, it's quite the car. The german built 3.2L V6 and chassis handle well, and provide decent acceleration. Most of what makes this car so interesting and fun to drive are the neat ammenities like the speed sensitive spoiler that can be raised or lowered, the automatic top, a well appointed interior, and an irresistable exterior. I'm not sure why Chrysler had such a problem selling these; probably because of the fact it's a very small niche market automobile, but if you're looking for something with only two seats, this car delivers it all. Cerberus will end Chrysler's production of the crossfire by 2009, or as soon as possible, in an attempt to cut ties with Mercedes cross engineered former DCX vehicles, which will make finding one difficult, but worth the search.Feb 11, 2008

I have a 2006 Chrysler crossfire, runs great. Took it in for emission test, and did not pass because the car computer needed to be reset. I was told by Chrysler that car needed to be driven and it would reset it self. After 200 miles it still wont reset. Any ideas on what to try next.
I have an oil leak and my mechanic says it is the transmission oil cooler. The car has a manual transmission. Do manual transmissions have oil coolers?
I was wondering if there was a recommended size of wheel and tire that could be installed on a Crossfire that would allow tire rotation from front to rear, i.e. having the same size tire on both front and rear postions.
