2005 Crossfire Roadster Limited top will not retract.
I unlatch the top, the windows go down, I hear the trunk lock, and the process ends there. I have bypassed the safety switch in the trunk for the partition but the panels are in place.

The Chrysler Crossfire entered its second year of production in 2005, with an expended model lineup. Two trim levels, Base and Limited, were available, and Chrysler also added a new convertible model. There are four variations for 2005.
The new Limited trim is differentiated from the base by several amenities, including a tire pressure monitor, power/heated/leather seating, a six-speaker Infinity audio upgrade, an optional automatic transmission, and upgraded seats. The Base is a more stripped down version of the previous year's model, which allowed anxious buyers to get into the Crossfire at a considerably lower price. Full power accessories, dual-zone climate control, and stability control are standard across the board.
For this year only, Chrysler also offered a high-powered SRT-6 variation of the Crossfire, but that package creates a unique model, similar to the distinction between the 300 and the 300 SRT-8.
All four Crossfire variants are powered by a 3.2 liter V-6. This engine provides 215 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission on the Base model. The Limited is exclusively available with the five-speed automatic. The Crossfire accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.8 seconds, and drivers can expect mixed driving gas mileage around 20 mpg.

No, I do not think this car is of good value. How are dealers selling cars, claiming certified with the roof of the car needs replacing and leaving the expense on the customer to repair. The price on the the car should be way cheaper!!!!!Jul 26, 2024

This car is a first generation Mercedes SLK with different styling. It comes in two flavors SRT and Limited. Mine was a 3.2 limited with automatic transmission. The Crossfire’s strengths are it’s styling, value and reasonable performance. The weaknesses are that the steering is old fashioned recirculating ball and it really lets down any sporty feeling. Acceleration from the 3.2 v6 is good and the engine sounds rumbley. Mine was well built ,and I did not have any expenses other than maintainence. The hatch allows you to stuff a reasonable amount of “stuff” into the car. These cars are pretty rare and people tend to notice the car. Overall, not a real sports car, but a solid, cruiser.Sep 29, 2021

The Crossfire is a great car I have one and buying another one. They are fairly reliable too as they are based on the Mercedes SLK platform. Keep the oil changed and they will run and run and run. They are pretty fast too. If/when you do have to do repairs look for and buy the Mercedes part for the SLK 320 that matches. It will be way less expensive. You can find lists on crossfire forums.

I like this car, I think it is worth more than NADA says it is worth. NADA determines how much of a loan I can get so I had to cough up cash to buy this car. Like all cars it has its issues, but its a nice riding solid feeling car with a good bit of pep from that 3.2L 6 cyl engine. Crossfire is one of the best Sport cars value in the market. It is a MB SLK 320 with a Chrysler Body. Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc all MB. There wasn't much to dislike, it was gorgeous, nimble and quick, beautiful and well built. All of the Crossfires were built in the Karman Factory in Germany, the very same one that builds the SLK Models. One drawback is the wheels and tires, because they are staggered with 18" in front and 19" in the rear. Very expensive to replace all 4 wheels and tires. But, worth the money.Aug 09, 2013

Smart looking and powerful. Beautifully designed body. Great acceleration, good control. Gas mileage better than reported 22/30 vs. 18/22. Major blind spots on either side when backing up and very low headroom for taller folks. But if you want a sassy, sporty look - this car has it!Apr 26, 2013

It is a beautiful car and even now at 8 years old it still turns heads. It has a very good solid feel and rides pretty good for having 18 and 19" wheels on low profile rubber. Tracks like a go cart. I have had minimal issues with the car and have fixed most of them myself with info from the forum. It goes fast enough for most people but is also available in a SRT6 model with an extra 100+ HP for those who need speed! The car is fun to drive. It's quick, fast and handles great. I love the look of the car, especially from the rear. The manual transmission is a bit choppy though, sometimes it resists going into gear. It is such a pleasure to drive this car certainly if you are interested in high performance cars and I like the suspension on the car to be tight. It takes turns like a car with racing suspension. I bought a Chrysler and got the Mercedes engineering modeled from their SLK 320. It makes you silly and smile when you got on a curvy road and could really accelerate into the curves. The cons were few. This is not a Truck or SUV or a car for the snow in any way shape or form. If the roads aren't plowed and there are a few inches on the ground, you're not going anywhere. Not with low profile tires on your car. The car rides more like a race car and this isn't all that comfortable in cities with bad roads. It’s designed for the smooth roads. Another improvement would be an better defrost for the front window, and a better cup holder -it was terrible inadequate, popped up all the time and didn't hold drinks well One thing about this car is it has a very quiet engine. Sure it's small inside and like being in a cockpit instead of a car, but it was the best driving experience in a car I've ever have had. That is why I can say I love this car.Sep 26, 2012

Just recently purchased a preowned 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited. So far I'm enjoying it. It's the first time I ever own a convertible. When I found out this was 90%+ Mercedez I liked it even more. I LOVE this car!! It handles excellent and has plenty of power for me. Maintenance is quite high but if you don't put alot of km's on in a year it works out. Need a good high car Mechanic to work on it as the Chrysler dealerships don't seem to work on them enough to know what they are doing. direct as I would like and entry into turns a bit savage.
As a daily ride for 140m/day, it has had no issues, gives

Bad location of cup holder. Rear view mirror is limited. Sealed lens covering headlights are not tight they become fogged. Trunk is very small - especailly when top is down. Paint job is thin. The run flat tires are very expensive.Aug 07, 2009

The vehicle is almost four years old and I still have people come up to me and ask me what type of car it is and comment on how beautiful it looks. It's not the best performing car in the world but I have never felt like it was underpowered. The suspension is stiff which makes the ride a bit harsh but also allows you to turn hard without much body roll. I get an average of 23 mpg using the recommended premium fuel. Dec 23, 2008

been a few "know issues" to deal with such as one
part of my seat heater had to be replaced, a seal on
the transmission drain plug replaced, etc. All were
easy and under warranty. Other than that in the
near two years I have only had to change the oil
three times.
No doubt this is a hell of a car for the money. You
get a Mercedes-Benz for a very low price.
I would highly recommend the car. One thing I
always harp on is to beware the tires. Be sure to get
a road hazard warranty as soon as possible. I have
replaced way too many.
Lots of performance. Fun to drive. Exclusivity. The
build quality is top notch - no rattles. Great gas
milage 19+ in town and 27 to 30 MPG on the
