2006 BMW 3 Series Reviews, Pricing & Specs

The Bimmer is for pure pleasure. Excellent handling, great performance (I know, the N52 engine isn't the N54, but I've tweaked it to rival a 330i) and it's a looker. Fit and finish is typical German production, which is precise and designed well. It's fun on turns. Currently I have Breyton wheels and Hankook tires. The tires have been a disappointment in handling compared to the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's I previously rode on. The brakes on this vehicle (stock) are the best I've ever had on any vehicle I've owned. Excellent road feel and short stopping times (Unscientifically analyzed, of course. I know what I like.) These current 3 series (e90s) vehicles have a design and mechanics that'll be timeless and lauded after it's all said and done.

What more can I say? Pure Driving Pleasure. I dont think I could go back to any other car. The drive is very precise and the gearing ratios provide awesome performance when it is needed. Freeway driving is a pleasure with cruise control. Summer is the bomb with the sunroof open...

BMW couldn't have come up with a better slogan, "The ultimate driving machine." This vehicle was truly made to be driven, especially driven hard. For once, a "tiptronic" automatic transmission that actually changes its shifting characteristics to a more noticeable degree. Precise steering response and tight suspension make this 4 passenger luxury coupe feel more like a 2 seater sports car. If you're looking for a practical car thats reasonable on gas mileage and has a sports car feel, BMW has it!

Sports car handling and acceleration with sedan practicality.

So far so good! It’s sporty, quick, excellent handling, quiet and comfortable. It’s great to drive!

I really enjoyed the acceleration and sports car feel and the control aspect in winter conditions. The fuel economy was more than adequate for a car with this kind of power. I experienced no unexpected repairs or annoying characteristics for such a performance car.

The 330 convertible was my compromise between a true 2 seat sports car and a family sedan. I have taken my kids to school and then drove it to work everyday since I bought it - and I loved every minute of my commute. It has stood up rather well to the rigors of daily use with the interior showing signs of wear only on the left lateral support of the driver's seat and the steering wheel radio buttons. That is a testament to the quality of the materials used in the car. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone who appreciates driving rather than just commuting!

Classic, stylish, powerful, great handling, responsive, nimble, comfortable, road trip worth, great interior styling and sound system, straightforward engine albeit German, fully loaded with all interior options including window blinds on all back windows to conserve AC during the summer.

It is comfortable, clean, and a nice car to be driving when you are a 23 year old college student. It does garner some attention when I am seen driving in it. Aside from that, it is high maintenance and high performance like any other BMW. This one in particular has issues that are commonly associated with first year models. I would beware when buying any first year model vehicles.

The acceleration, braking and handling of this car are superb. It is the utlimate the driving machince. Fun and safe to drive. Gas mileage was great on trips, and ok in the city. The car's appearance, build and performance are the best.

My second 3 series car. Purchased as a CPO with 16K miles 4 years ago. Now has about 54K miles and has completely met my expectations. Get the premium and sport packages if you can; these make the car much more enjoyable and capable.

Love the handling, and braking is really good Feel like it could use some more power in terms of straight-line acceleration, but the 255 is ample for most needs Overall it is amazing to drive, and it makes me smile everytime i take a corner at speed. The steering is nicely weighted and very sensitive, best ive driven so far. The appearance is pretty decent stock, but its more classy than sporty, however a few subtle aggressive mods will change that, (working on those right now) The build quality is above average, but occasional little things get annoying, like broken cup holders and occasional rattles gets good gas mileage if you want it to, aka. dont drive like you stole it a bit pricey (both the car and all parts associated with it), but its a BMW so its expected

Overall- i just love the car. Performance- acceleration is super, braking is on the spot, handling is brilliant. Appearance - for a machine, its quite glamorous. Build quality - is quite strong. Cost of ownership- is quite pricy to maintain. Fun factor - its a breeze to drive esp. on the right road.

I love the BMW 3 Series. This is my 2nd one and I have nothing but good things to say about them. It drives like a dream & is very reliable. I would highly recommend!

I bought my 330i used with about 35,000 miles on it so still under warranty though I never had to use it. The previous owner had replaced the run flat tires, which are standard, with regular tires so I put run flats on right away. That was the biggest expense the whole time I owned the vehicle. It had the Sport and Premium Packages and was fun to drive every time I started it. You have to use premium gas but it gets such good gas mileage you don't mind. It was only in the shop twice (power window motors that I mentioned) other than oil changes. I couldn't recommend the car more highly. I clicked that I mostly used the car for sport/fun but the emphases is on the fun. I never took it to the track or rode it terribly hard but I was occasionally aggressive on some curvy roads. Only drove it to work occasionally

This is the finest car I have ever owned. I was surprised at how tight everything was plus the styling and creature comforts. I felt in complete control of its tight mechanical operation, enjoyed driving it, was comfortable riding and all without worry of reliability.

Always provides some form of thrill. Traction Control allows some wheel spin, without totally loosing control. Acceleration can not be beat, especially in the 50- 70 passing speed. BMW maintenance, is the best in the industry.No major problems to speak of yet either. Loaners are always top of the line, brand new models. Milage is decent as well at 300 to 350 miles on a full tank, about $40 to fill up at $2.65 a gallon.

This car is exactly what you want out of a BMW, it has an incredible inline 6 naturally aspirated engine. I love the amount of pull it has in higher gears, with a great amount in low gears as well. Great interior, good adaptive BI Xenon lights and rear fogs.

Extremely good handling, quick response braking, although a diesel has a bit of lag when quickly accelerating. The car looks very sporty for a four door saloon car. It is very fun to drive it, sporty when you want it, comfortable when you need it.

Performance is ok with 230HP but the 6 speed manual makes it much more fun than it would be otherwise. The build quality of the car is perfect...so smooth and quiet. One of the best things about a BMW is it's distinguishable look, and this BMW has that locked down with a classic silver exterior and black leather interior. Gas mileage is fantastic for a 6 cylinder, don't worry about gas other than you have to use supreme.

I love the fact that this vehicle has the power you need for daily driving and then some. It is very impressive on all levels. I have a blast taking this car out and when your cruising along your amazed that your actually going 120 MPH. Doesn't feel like it!

all the performance is amazing... beautiful build quality.. interior appearance is awesome, exterior little long front end.. haven't had any maintenance problems, gas mileage is about 35 highway, oil changes cost about $60, rear wheel drive sucks.... Very fun to drive...

Although I wish it was manual transmission, I LOVE this car! I think from now on, all my cars will be German-based. Once you get a BMW, you will want another! Fast, fun, sporty, good in snow....I have no complaints. BMWs are definitely "The Ultimate Driving Machine"!

I was fourteen years old & this was the car that I experienced alot of "First" in. I ran this car to the ground & then some & it still performed beautifully till the very last day that it was in my possession. I've driven alot of cars for the very few years that I've been driving & all i have to say is that this was German Enginering at its Finest.

I thought my TL was great but this car out handles it like crazy and feels really solid. Unbelievable.

This car has been great for me and I definitely like it the more I drive it, smooth on the road and handles every turn with ease. My only problems I have with the car is the fact that it’s so low to the ground one wrong move on a speed bump and you may not have a car anymore. On a personal note my problem with my car is that the interior of the car shows it’s age and wasn’t taken care of properly. But if you have a little extra cash flow and some time on your hands this car is perfect in every way !

One of the last great driving machine efforts by BMW before all the electronics focus saw them go in another direction. You may not be able to stream your music but who cares there are ways around that!

performance and luxury... the only downside is the high maintenance and limited aftermarket parts like turbo, tranny conversions, some bolt ons and interior extras... but it was a great coupe.. so simple to be called a sports car yet so complicated to be dubbed as simple, wll something like that...

I like the coupe better. * Cost of Ownership - gas mileage, maintenance Gas mileage is alright in the city, and is poor when pushing the car hard. * Fun Factor - is this car fun to drive? The car is very fun to drive.

There is no car like a BMW. I first thought that bmw's were like all other luxury cars, but they are on a completely different level than anything else i've ever driven. This car is a mini rocket. On paper the car may seem average, but get behind the wheel and its a whole new world!

had random problems with the door locks jamming but overall it is an amazing car, very smooth drive and acceleration, and good build quality. the cost was a little high for some of the repairs and when compared to Japanese brands, but it is worth it in the long run

Good acceleration, amazing driving, comfortable, safe. sound is excellent and gadgets such as bluetooth for mobile phone connection is very useful and helpful during driving. i.pod connection gives extraordinary music portability. Seat is very comfortable for long driving distances. It is very safe to drive with those special tires.

Having had the BMW 318i estate I decided I'd stick with BMW if I could find one at the right price, the right age, the right model, the right mileage and of course the right interior, the right SOUND SYSTEM and of course the RIGHT COLOUR! - A Tall order! But I love this car. I looked and tested lots of BMW's before I purchased this including the new diesel 325 saloon version. What I was really after was a car to enjoy now the boys had their own transport. Ended up loving this BMW 325ci M sport coupe with steptronic (until now) always had manual shift. Economically, this car with the same size fuel tank only does 50 miles less (combined mileage use) than the 318i which is better than I expected. It has sport front seats too - so great comfort on a longer journey. As far as I am concerned - from performance through to styling and the fun factor and not forgetting the MUST HAVE sound system - it scores top marks for me at the moment

Never thought I'd buy a BMW, but this one has really changed my opinion of the brand. Well built, with a cracking diesel engine that goes like stink. Looks are a bit exciting (M-Sport body kit), but not too boy-racer. No blacked-in windows, so doesn't look so much like a drug dealer's car!).

Its just the best car on any road. Very sleek, fast and empowering. Its acceleration is next to non in its class. The elegance compares to no other car. Though, expensive in maintenance when it gets old. BMW means Amen
