The 2004 model year brought a few significant changes to the Town & Country lineup. The LXi and eL models have been discontinued, but new style debut this year.
The lowest priced model is now the "Family Value" shorter wheelbase STD, followed by the modestly equipped LX. The front-wheel drive only EX is the third tier, offering a more comprehensive equipment list and the 3.8 liter V-6. The LXi has been replaced by the Touring trim, which is offered with FWD or AWD. The two Limited models return as well. Chrysler also offered a limited edition Platinum Series, which could be applied to the Touring model.
Chrysler has updated the audio and video components, and a tire pressure monitor has been added to all models. Several other updates, including the availability of "Stow N Go" seating would arrive in the following year.
Two Town & Country variations (STD and LX) will be powered by the smaller 3.3 liter OHV V-6. The Flex Fuel engine delivers 180 horsepower and 210 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. All other models use the 3.8 liter OHV, 12-Valve V-6, which generates 215 horsepower and 245 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy for both engines is estimated at 18/25 mpg.
Comfort and convenience features top the list of favorite Town & Country attributes. Owners express great satisfaction with the power sliding doors, three-zone climate control, power accessories, the CD changer and the garage door opener. Shoppers should be cautioned that these items are not available on all trims.
Several Chrysler models have been subject to reliability and build quality issues for some time. Another caveat with Chrysler is that the well-appointed Town & Country is laden with advanced technology and gadgets. Unfortunately, given the history of the American automaker, these features simply provide more opportunities for frustrating electrical and mechanical problems to occur.

I have owned this car for the last three years and the best thing I can say about it is it's been reliable. In those three years, outside the standard oil change, I've only had to replace tires, and a few minor things that go out on all cars (light bulbs, a few cheap interior plastic items). Aside from this, there aren't many positives. The interior is filled with cheap plastics that scratch or fall off with no effort at all. Even though I'm very careful with this car since I'm saving to to a better car soon, I have still had to replace several things on the inside that couldn't handle daily use. Which comes to my second negative point, the brakes in this car are absurdly awful. I don't know if it's a bad ABS system or just the weight of the car, but whenever I go to press the brakes, I'm afraid they're going to fall off.May 06, 2013

Tilaa on ihan mukavasti.

we practicly had to pay the dealership to take this pile of crap back! 4 year lease and the thing owed us to return so we had to trade it. This is the car I hate the most of all cars I've owned. My Ford escort would be next in line I guess, and that ROCKED next to this crap. BTW, it was actually just a Dodge Caravan but CarIQ didnt list anything except the Town and Country which would actually be infinitely better!Jun 16, 2009

It's a Chrysler! At just under 60K, the a/c is shot and the suspension is creaking (sway bar bushing, strut mount, tie rod end, who knows?). Chrysler has lived up to its poor reputation for build quality with this vehicle.
On the good side, it's roomy, comfy, and safe.
The engine is an old design, which is good and bad. The 3.3L V6 is a smaller version of the 3.8L V6, which is itself a V6 version of the Dodge/Chrysler 318cid V8. All that to say it's a relatively smooth, quiet, and composed pushrod engine. However, its 185hp is weak compared to others in the class, and Chrysler would do well to update. At least to OHC, but preferably to DOHC with variable valve timing and a five- or six-speed automatic.
The transaxle is a terrible design, and has been since its inception in the 80's. Although it's been strengthened (and renamed from A604 to 41TE), it is still relatively weak and short-lived compared to other automatics. And with only 3 gears plus overdrive, it's now outdated.
Chrysler, make a better product or you will sink. Treat your customers better, or no one will mourn your sinking.Jul 10, 2008

Not the fastest or most luxurious Minivan but it works for me. I wish I had the 2005 model with Stow-N-Go because it would be more usefull when it is time to haul things. But the dual sliding doors and power drivers set are nice. The vehicle is comfortable on long drives (4+ hours) and I've only had one mechanical issue with it (leaking steering column).May 19, 2008
My TC has been overheating. The gauge will be set on cold, a few min later temp raises to half way, then the temp spikes to to the top. Replaced the thermostat and it didn't overheat for a few days (in-town driving). Today, it overheated again. The heater stops working when the van starts to overheat. What could be wrong?? Extra info: Our a/c compressor is out.
If I put in the OEM stereo and let it come on you can hear the CD. If you then unhook it and put the wiring harness with JVC stereo then the JVC plays. If you turn car off and turn it back on there is no sound from the JVC. If you then unhook the JVC, hook up the OEM, unhook the OEM and hook up JVC then the sound comes on. Any ideas why it would act so strangely? There is a blue/whire wire not hooked up, but that seems to be an atena amplifier, not anything to do with power or speakers
