The Camry Solara received a facelift for 2002, which included a new grille, front bumper, headlights, and taillights. Toyota also included a more powerful base engine, a four cylinder, 2.4 liter with 157 horsepower. New options were also available for the interior, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob for the SE and heated seats and remote entry with a trunk release on all models.
The 2002 Camry Solara came in two trim levels: the base SE and the well-appointed SLE. The SE comes standard with the four-cylinder engine, and the SLE comes standard with a V6, 3.0-liter engine. Unlike its competitors the Honda Accord and the Chrysler Sebring, the 2000 Camry Solara was available with a five-speed manual transmission with the V6 engine. Fuel economy is about 20 to 30 miles per gallon depending on the engine. It was also available as a convertible.
The 2002 Toyota Camry Solara recieved raves for being reasonably roomy for a two-door coupe, even in the backseat. Drivers complained that the seatbelts in front are not height-adjustable, and that some of the cubbies are so small as to be unusable. Other complaints include inadequate tires and a high price tag.

I've owned MANY MANY MANY cars over the years & surprisingly the
Solara made my top 5 best list. Bought it 5 and half years ago w/ 83,000
miles & just recently sold it with 140,000 miles on it & running as good as
the day i first bought it. I always received compliments on how well it
drove & the only $ I spent on it was for a set of brake pads, a timing belt,
& a tune-up! Solid car that I would buy again if I found a good oneJan 11, 2014

Think this is a quality car that looks great. I'm tall (6'2") and I have no problems getting in or out. Comfortable to drive with lots of power. Leather interior looks and feels great. Lot's of truck room. Excellent 6cd radio.Nov 04, 2013

There was nothing that I disliked about this car! Color was true and did not fade out like othEr reds that I have owned. Good power, radio system and 6 disc CD player was still functional after all these years.Aug 01, 2013

Its over all a good car but idk its kind of slow until you
put some upgrades in it. zero to sixty is all right but
the 60 to 100 is pretty good. its fun to drive and easy
to upgrade so worth the money kind of older though.

An amazing first car whic has enough power to get out of the way and the ability to obtain 34 MPG. This car is so much fun to drive, the moon roof and other add ons are definetely an addition to this amazing car just in its own without these extras.Sep 14, 2008

Toyota Solara P1130 OBDCode
I have a 2002 Toyota Solara 2.4L 4 cylinder. (Currently:199k miles) Months ago I got a P0420 code meaning I had a bad catalytic converter.. The code was reset multiple times to ensure the catalytic converter was indeed bad. I eventually changed the catalytic converter. After that, the P0130 code popped up meaning I had a bad o2 sensor. That code was also reset. I changed the o2 sensor.. I soon got a P0171(System Lean etc..) & P1130, I reset those codes and the P0171 went away. But the P1130 came back.. I contacted the company I ordered the o2 sensor from (thinking it was defective) and they gladly sent me another sensor which I currently have installed.. but the code persisted which is leading me to believe the problem is not the sensor but something throwing the sensor off. The P1130 code: Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1. Now this code is tricky because there is no definite solution just by reading the code. I changed my spark plugs and ran some sea foam through the tank, no change. I bought an OBD scanner to get some live data/freeze frames. First off, my car cannot stay in Closed Loop. It either shows, OL drive/CL-Fault or just simply OL. When it is in CL, my Short Term Fuel Trims range from -20% to +5% and my Long Term averages -10%. The Upstream O2 sensor (B1S1) reads 3.289v in open loop. In CL-Fault/Closed Looo: O2B1S1 ranges 3.3-3.5 which doesn't seem ok at all. The Downstream (O2B1S2) reads just fine averaging about 0.89v. All other readings seem about right. The MAF averages 2.89 at idle and my sparkadv averages 15(idle). Performance issues include: hesitation when accelerating, loss of power, very bad starting problems (especially cold starts), hard shifting between gears, very bad gas mileage, a very rough low idle (660 average) and my car smells of gasoline. Currently lost and looking for possible solutions. I'm thinking I have a bad coil, a leak, bad fuel filter or bad injectors or just a defective o2 sensor.

i put a new igntion switch in my 2002 toytoa solara the old key had a chip the new one dont would i have to get the new keys programmed

2002 Toyota Solara with no keys (chip keys)
Friends car was stolen with the keys and just got it back without the keys. Is there any way around the factory security system (light flashing on dash)? Got a replacement ignition with keys without any chip, if I find a vehicle being dismantled that matches mine,can I get it's ecm and matching key with chip and switch them out?
