My husband and I were having some difficult financial times and I had to give up my Escape. For three months I was carless, dependent on him to drop me off an hour before work and sit out in the cold or walk home because he was stalled out in traffic due to a bad wreck - it was horrible! Finally my boss took pity on me and lent me $2,500 to buy a car. While I was grateful I was also fearful of what kind of car I was going to be able to get for that amount of money. Boy, have I been pleasantly surprised! Gumbini caught my eye, I went and drove her and bought her that night - $2,500 out the door. That was 2 years ago when she had only gone 192,000 miles, we don't drive much since I now work from home but she currently weighs in at a proud 209,000 and hasn't let me down once! My husband's 2012 Challenger stranded him in the middle of the freeway during rush hour needing a new alternator and my daughter's 2006 Jetta cost her mom a new transmission but my little 2000 Tiburon just keeps going, and going, and going! Sure wish they hadn't stopped making them, not a good decision IMHO!May 31, 2014

acceleration and handling kept up with 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo SS, fast little car,
very good braking, got average of 28 miles to the gallon when i kept my foot out of
the gas, extremely fun car to drive, would get another one if i found another for

-Fairly good speed for a 4 cylinder but cant compete with very many V6's.
-Lots of rattling and exterior noise.
-I think it looks great on the inside and out!
-Average gas mileage.
-I really do like driving it. it handles pretty well and has good speed.
-Mine is at kind of high revs in fifth gear, could just be my car.
-Slides a lot in the snow but that may just be because I don't have snow tires. Just put some weight in the back and learn how to control it.Dec 05, 2010

el diseno muy deportivo al correrlo es muy estable tiene sunroof estandar muy espacioso el baul tiene rims 16" un motor de 16 valvulas doble eje de evas y no lo cambio x ningun otro carro y en la parte de adentro del carro de atras es bastante espaciosoNov 06, 2010

seat belt retrack has a recall doesnt work proper, head lights go fairly quick, and driving hard berings, brakes, and other small fixes are more frequent but most of the work thats been done to it was done in My garage, so i definatly saved there. fun to drive, quick off the line, handles beautifully threw tight corners, although torgue steering is an issue. car with loud subs doesnt need dino mat, theres pretty much no vibration any were, parts arent rediculas, interior is sweet, exterior isnt my kinda look, but its starting to grow on me and ive seen some fairly nice body mods that are decent in price too.Aug 20, 2010

This was my "sexy baby" - loved the curves on this car. Although it sucked from a dead stop it loved to run on the highway and would accelerate quickly even at higher speeds. I still miss the storage space of the hatchback.Aug 07, 2009

A sleazy used car salesman acutally had me test drive this sad excuse for a sport coupe before it had been detailed. There was still spilled soda on the console. Why did Hyundai try to market this piece of garbage? The engine was the weakest, shakiest, least responsive box I've ever tried to rev. It didn't help that it was mated to a dumb, laggy automatic transmission. The interior felt cramped and clausterphobic. The rear hatch opens the same way as an RSX, making it quite accessible. However, as this is the car's best feature, I don't know why anyone would buy one. What's the point of a sport coupe with a dull engine? What's the point of a 2.0L engine that only gets 17mpg? If you don't like the body style they have some real nice body kits for the Hyundai. Gets good mpg, I have not had any issues with this car. I almost picked up another on for about the same price as the one I have with less milesApr 12, 2009

The care is really great it's got great pick up and can really handle most kinds of weather. there is the down side of Snow though being a sports car it really doesn't handle well in the snow. The interior and exterior of the car are both very sleek, really even though there are seats in the back it is more of a two person car because of the way the roof slants and the leg room someone has to be short to sit back there and be comfortable. I get about 25 mpg which i am happy with because most of my driving is to school or on back country roads to work so with about 13 gal tank and 25 mpg i only have to refill once a week and it only costs less than $20 right now. all around i just love driving the car because of the handling and the speed.I have had to put a lot of money into the car for timing belt, and tires, but i think it is money well spent because 99.9 % of the time it is reliable.Jan 04, 2009

Overall, a very fun car to drive, I Owned the 1.6 116hp version, it has pretty good handling, good braking, excellent acceleration considering its FF and with such a small engine.
The interiors are confortable, though at the backseat the window is very low and taller people wouldnt be confortable.
The plastics are low quality, lots of squeaks and rattles, etc.
Reliable car, but once it gets quite a few kms on it, watch out, as it's replacement part heaven... it drinks a bit too, but that may be because I have a sporty style of driving. The exterior is pretty much love it or hate it. fact is it used to turn heads as its agressive looking.
I'd recomend it if the car in question was well taken care of and with low kms on it.Dec 05, 2008

the car is awsome. its a little hard with 2 kids but who cares the car is sexy haha. would not trade it for anything its my dream car. anybody who wants a nice car cheap on gas and the car doesnt loose to much value so you can almost get what you paid for it if you decide to sell it.Oct 06, 2008

Scott had to have this cute sports car and enjoyed it for a couple years. It was easy to hit your head getting into since it was so low slung. It never fit quite right but I enjoyed driving it even though I didn't get to much.Jun 13, 2008

Over all it really is a great car. Mines 5 speed I have heard the automatics are kinda crappy. You cant beat it for over all torque off the line it will put you back in your seat through all the gears if your on it. Especially out of a little 2.0L L4 motor.
Not much for the tuner market, no companies really believed that hyundai could be a performance car. So your left with paying high prices for all your parts. Apr 08, 2008

2000 Hyundai Tiburon Died
I have a 2000 Hyundai Tiburon. Was driving it a few days ago and it died on me. It would not start back up so I towed it. When I got it home, I tried starting it again and it started just fine. I looked under the hood and it looked as if all the coolant had either leaked out or been expelled. My temperature gauge did not show any overheating. Just showed it head up like normal. What is the problem? I won't drive it in fear that it will die again.
