A year after introducing the MX-3, Mazda made no changes to its popular sports coupe, other than a few updates to the list of standard features and adding a new exterior paint color. The MX-3 was available in both a Base version and a more powerful GS model. The Base MX-3 came with an 88-horsepower, 1.6-liter four cylinder, while the GS version came with a 130-horsepower, 1.8-liter V6 that was the smallest V6 engine available in the industry. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission was standard for both versions, while a four-speed automatic was available as optional equipment. Standard features for the MX-3 included bucket seats, power brakes, power steering, power exterior mirrors, 14-inch wheels, a rear window defroster, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo system. The GS added a rear spoiler, a tighter sport suspension, and alloy wheels. Options included air conditioning, power windows, and power door locks. Most drivers had words of high praise for the MX-3, calling it fast, nimble, reliable, comfortable, and hugely fun to drive. On the downside, some drivers thought the sports coupe was underpowered, and others noted that it had blind spots out the sides. But that didn't stop drivers from giving the car a good workout.

Best car I have had it isnt the cheap model it has the V-6 turbo and is fully loaded
with extra's.I need to put alot of TLC into it over the next months so need idea's

I love this car to death, is a GS but came with the twin cam inline 4, a month after i got it i swapped in a KLZE out of a MS8(jap Mazda Millenia), Spectre CAI, Borla exhaust, cat delete, Fidanza 1.2 lb flywheel, ACT stage 2 clutch, very fun to drive, i want to lower it on coilovers, but not sure what brand fits this car nicelyJan 22, 2010

This little baby has an unbeatable 1,6 engine (made 360000 km without any engine repairs). good electric package for 1993, very adaptive to sound system installation. Loved recaro seats and handling abilities (with lowered suspension).
My first (and last) car owned.

i enjoy the performance of the car. even though it doesnt have a ton of hp, it just feels fast. the build quality isnt very good currently, the interior is kinda falling apart. the exterior is very stylish, though some paint bubbles are starting t show up.Aug 20, 2009

Slow, but can add the KL-ZE to make it a rocket! Horrible rear passenger space, front leg room limited for the larger people. It gets great gas mileage, 4 cylinder gets up to 40 mpg. Makes it a cheap daily driver.Aug 05, 2009

it did pretty good over all but it wuz soo small and we like 2 go on trips so it didnt work 4 us but whoever has it now has a good car! it was a wierd color but it looked good on the car. it was kinda aqua colored. Oct 26, 2008

Quick little sports car. The handling is excellent. The body has held up well for 15 years and 227000 kms. The styling is great. All shined up I get a lot of looks. Of course it sounds sweet with an aftermarket exhaust system. The car is a lot of fun to drive. Only thing is I wish it had a manual trany.Sep 07, 2008

Popular car to mod. Great handling - turns on a dime with little sway. Great
acceleration with a 2.5 KLZE V6 engine and cold ar intake. Interior is sporty, with
the crazy bumpy dash. 255,000 Km's and still going strong. WAY better car than

Curently experencing a problem. Fowling right rear plug and causing engine to miss/skip and run rough with major loss of power in low range. Not solved with new platinum plugs. Head gasket?? Looking for verbal help,Apparently oil is infiltrating into sparkplug well thru leaking gasket and then seeping into combustion chamber and plug.
At least, that's my read on the problem. Hoping for easier fix than pulling, shaving head and replacing gasket. Prety labor intensive!Jan 19, 2007

Water leaking into my 1993 mx3
I have a substantial amount of water leaking into my car's driver's side. I am unable to discover if water is coming through the window and down through the door, or if it is coming in from a wheel well on driver's side. Has anyone else had this problem? Fixed it?

1993 Mazda MX3 Will Crank but Won't Start
I purchased the car after it had been sitting for two years because of the clutch going bad. I replaced the clutch, battery and alternator, and had the car running. When i replaced the spark plugs and wires it would no longer start. I've checked and rechecked the wiring order to ensure it's correct. I've replaced the distributor, ignition module, ignition coil, ecu, fuel pump relay, and ignition switch. I've checked all of the fuses and the timing. I'm not sure what to try next. Does anyone know what it could be? Also, the motor is a swapped 2.5L KL series and not the original 1.8L.
